Enabling KPI‑based predictions
Related topics
As a tenant administrator, you can enable and control KPI‑based predictions at the tenant level, allowing BMC Helix AIOps to automatically generate prediction events for eligible KPI metrics that are associated with services.
KPI‑based predictions help teams identify potential future service risks without requiring manual configuration for individual services or metrics. After enabling, BMC Helix AIOps evaluates the KPIs and generates predictions when the forecasted data violates thresholds or baselines.
Prediction events represent future risk and do not indicate current service impact. Health indicator configuration is not required for generating KPI‑based predictions.
Before you begin
Before enabling KPI‑based predictions, ensure that the following conditions are met:
- The KPIs belong to configuration items (CIs) that are part of a service model, so predictions can be associated with services.
- Auto‑anomaly detection is enabled, or alarm policies are configured in BMC Helix Operations Management.
- Metrics intended for predictions must be explicitly classified as Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and represent meaningful service or component performance.
- Historical data is available so that baseline patterns or trends can be identified.
If any of these conditions are not met, KPI‑based predictions are not generated even after the feature is enabled.
To enable KPI‑based predictions
- On the BMC Helix AIOps console, click Configurations, and then click Manage Service Predictions.
- From the Manage Service Predictions page, enable the Generate predictions based on KPI metrics option.
After KPI‑based predictions are enabled, BMC Helix AIOps automatically evaluates the KPIs and starts generating prediction events when forecasted threshold or baseline violations are detected.
