Uploading the Foundation data spreadsheets

You can upload the updated Excel spreadsheets and upload them to BMC Helix Platform so that the Foundation data is available for processing.

The following image shows the process of loading the Foundation data in bulk:

  1. Log in to BMC Helix Innovation Studio and navigate to the Workspace tab.

  2. Click the Data Management Console application. 

  3. Click Visit Deployed Application.

  4. From the Import tab, click New Import.

  5. On the Add New Import page, enter the information for the following fields:

    Attachment NameSpecify the name of the spreadsheet that contains the updated Foundation data.
    File DescriptionProvide a description for the updated spreadsheet.
    Attachment TypeSpecify whether you want to upload a .xlsx file or a ZIP folder.
    Attachment in
    To upload a .xlsx file, browse and select the updated .xlsx spreadsheet that you want to upload.

    To upload a ZIP folder, perform the following tasks:

    • Browse and select the updated ZIP folder that you want to upload.
    • In the xlsx Name field, enter the name of the .xlsx file that must be uploaded.

      BMC Helix Platform processes only one .xlsx file from the ZIP folder. The ZIP folder can contain can contain other file types such as .png file and more than one .xlsx file. However, BMC Helix Platform only recognizes the spreadsheet named in the xlsx Name field and ignores all other spreadsheets.

    Important: You can upload only one .xlsx file or a ZIP folder at a time.

    Warning: Any uploads that run longer than an hour are not processed. Therefore, you must upload the Foundation data in smaller batches and run the data jobs for each spreadsheet.

    The following image shows the Upload Data File dialog box:

  6. Click Quick Data Import.

The updated Excel spreadsheet is uploaded to BMC Helix Platform. You can then run the load process to import the Foundation data from the spreadsheet to BMC Helix Platform.
