Troubleshooting automated change impact analysis
When a change coordinator transitions change requests to a specific status defined in the rule, BMC Helix ITSM initiates the impact analysis in the background.
After the automated impact analysis is complete, BMC Helix ITSM performs the following actions:
- Initiates automated impact analysis
- Blocks further status transitions while the automated impact analysis is in progress
- Displays the list of impacted configuration items(CI) or associates the CIs with the change requests
- Sets the impact level of the change request.
- Updates the activity note
- Updates the status of the change request
(When All impacted services or All impacted CIs and services is selected in the Auto-relate CIs post impact analysis field.)
When automated impact analysis is run, you might encounter some issues.
The following table provides the issue details and the resolutions.
| Issue symptom | Issue scope | Resolution | Reference |
|---|---|---|---|
| The automated impact analysis fails to initiate | When I update the status of the change request. |
| Configuring rules for automatic impact analysis of change requests |
| You cannot view or configure the rules of automated impact analysis | One or more users face this issue | Verify that you have the Change Config permission to create rules for automated impact analysis. |
