The Server Manager tool is used to perform the following tasks on the Gateway server:
- Start and Stop the Mobile Reach Gateway
- Configure and View Licenses
- Set encryption levels, timeouts, and diary size limits
- Configure Push Settings
Server Manager is typically located in the Start > Programs > BMC Helix FSM folder. It can also be found in the Installation Directory BMC Helix FSM > Server folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\BMC Helix FSM\Server). Double-click Server Manager (ServerManager.exe) file to open Server Manager.
After the BMC Helix FSM Gateway has successfully installed, you must import the correct license file in the BMC Helix FSM Server Manager. Below are the details for how to navigate the FSM Server Manager.

FSM Server Manager Details
| Green Pane | The 'Green Pane' displays the installed licenses: AppStudio (access to AppStudio), AppStudioApps (access to FSM Mobile Apps on a client device), Server (access to AppManager). Additionally, you can see if the licenses are fixed or floating licenses, when the license was created, and when the license expires. Selecting a license from the available license list will display the license info located in the 'Yellow Pane'. |
| Blue Pane | The 'Blue Pane' controls the server settings. You can see if the server is currently running and can start or stop the server (depending on the servers current status). Starting or stopping the server manages the status of the 'BMC Helix FSM Gateway' service. Clicking on the 'Server Settings' button allows for additional server configuration:
Server Settings
- Server Port: Configurable port number that the 'BMC Helix FSM Gateway' service uses to communicate with the mobile client. By default, this is set to 1211.
- Encryption mode: Desired level of encryption between the FSM Gateway and the Mobile client. By default, this is set to none. Available options are: dynamic (uses the best available encryption level (from the 4 listed below) on the Gateway), aes256 (AES-256 encryption. Highest available level of encryption on the Gateway.), high (Triple-DES encryption), low (DES encryption), and none (No encryption).
- License timeout (hours): The time interval for when a floating license expires. This ranges from 1 to 72 hours. ***Note: if a floating license expires while offline, the user cannot continue their work until they come back online to refresh the license.***
- Client Type: Setting the Client Type value sets the $CLIENTYPE$ keyword within Remedy. It can be set to any value but should be coordinated with the Remedy administrator. The default setting is 34.
- PC/PocketPC diary size limit (bytes): Diary size limits the size of diary fields sent to the client. The value is set in bytes per record and does not apply to records already in the cache on the client. Not applicable to most use cases.
- BlackBerry diary size limit (bytes): Diary size limits the size of diary fields sent to the client. The value is set in bytes per record and does not apply to records already in the cache on the client. Not applicable to most use cases.
- ENTRYLIST batch size (0=disabled): Configures the FSM Gateway to use pagination when syncing records with the database. If more than 2,000 records from a form need to be downloaded, this setting circumvents the 'Max Entries per Query' error.
- Enable Push service: Setting to allow the client to receive messages from BMC Helix. If Push command is run on the Gateway server, ensure the Push from localhost checkbox is NOT checked.
- Push from localhost only: Setting to allow push notifications to only originate from the gateway servers internal IP.
- Auto assign fixed licenses: Enabling Auto assign Fixed Licenses will automatically assign an unallocated fixed license slot to the end-user in response to a license request. These slots can then be adjusted using the same methods used to adjust license slots that were assigned manually.

| Yellow Pane | The 'Yellow Pane' displays the license information related to the selected license. Selecting one of the licenses from the 'Installed Licenses' (Green Pane) will display associated license information in this pane. Below are details for the available license information fields: - License name: Name of the selected license: AppStudio, AppStudioApps, or Server.
- License version:
- MAC address: The MAC address associated to the selected license and FSM Gateway Server.
- Compatibility: The compatibility date of the selected license. This ensures client-server compatibility.
- Expires: Date at with the license expires. The license expires at 12:00AM (00:00) of the date specified.
- Assign Type: Indicates the license slots can be assigned users.
- Float: Number of floating license keys assigned to the selected license.
- Fixed: Number of fixed license keys assigned to the selected license.
- Timeout (hr): The time allotted to floating license keys before a user must log back in on the client. When the timeout is reached for a given user, the floating license key is released back to the available floating license pool. This attribute can be modified from the server settings (Blue Pane). If you select a license from the 'Green Pane' and then click 'Server Settings', you can modify just the selected licenses attributes. Deselecting all licenses and updating 'Server Settings' applies the attribute changes to all available licenses.
- Record limit: The amount of records that can be downloaded for a particular form.

| Red Pane | The 'Red Pane' controls the FSM Gateway license settings. There are three available buttons that you can select for License Control. - Clicking the 'Licenses In Use' button will display a pop-up with information about which licenses are in use and who is using each license.
