23.4 enhancements and patches
BMC applies upgrades as described in the BMC Helix Upgrade policy. BMC applies upgrades and patches during Maintenance windows.
23.4.02
Automatic data refresh for Overview and services details pages
The Overview page is automatically refreshed every five minutes. By default, the service details page is not refreshed automatically.
You can change the refresh interval for these pages or turn it off from the General Settings page.
For more information, see Configuring-general-settings.
New Host Name column in the Changes section for a situation
A new Host Name column on the Situation Explanation > Changes section shows all hosts that are part of the change request. If there are multiple hosts, hover over the displayed host name to view the other host names.
For more information, see Investigating-ML-based-situations.
Change in the direction of relationships in a service hierarchy
The direction of a relationship between services is reversed. An arrow line between two services indicates the direction of propagation of the impact between a parent service and child service.
Service blueprint enhancements
This release provides the following service blueprint enhancements.
Ability to add multiple attributes as variables on the start node
When adding a filter criterion to the CI Kind start node in a service blueprint, you can add upto three CI attributes as variables. These variables provide additional filtering capability for CIs when creating a service by using the service blueprint.
For more information, see Creating-service-blueprints.
Ability to add Location and Detail CI kinds
When creating blueprints, Location and Detail are available as CI kinds, in addition to the existing CI kinds.
For more information, see Creating-service-blueprints.
Observability and AIOps use cases
The following observability and AIOps use cases have been added to the documentation:
23.4.01
View change requests for services and situations for faster root cause analysis
The change requests created in BMC Helix IT Service Management are shown in the context of services and situations in BMC Helix AIOps. These changes help operators make informed decisions while troubleshooting or performing root cause analysis.
View the change requests from the last five days on the Changes tab in the Situation Explanation section on the situation details page. To view and manage changes in BMC Helix IT Service Management, use the link in the Change ID column. The change ID link is also available on the Changes tab in the Analyze Root Cause section on the service details page.
For more information, see Performing-causal-analysis-of-impacted-services and Investigating-ML-based-situations.
View baselines and event indicators in metric graphs
View baselines on the health indicator, event metrics, and performance view graphs. These baselines represent the reference range of normal and expected behavior of key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics.
In addition, event indicators on these graphs help you quickly identify the metrics that have violated the baseline.
For more information, see Monitoring-service-health-indicators and Performing-causal-analysis-of-impacted-services.
Automatic data refresh for Services and Situations pages
The Services and Situations pages are automatically refreshed every 5 minutes. Change the refresh interval or turn it off from the General Settings page.
The AIOps Dark Theme setting is moved to the General Settings page from the Manage Product Features page. The general settings apply to the logged-in user only.
For more information, see Configuring-general-settings.

Generative AI root cause summary powered by BMC Helix GPT
When viewing the ML-based situation details, you can view the generative-AI summary information powered by BMC HelixGPT. The summary consists of a short problem classification, a brief root cause summary, and a causal summary explaining the complete context. All these together help in faster root cause analysis and an accurate understanding of the issue. The human-readable text summary and description are formed by using the Generative Pretrained Transformer (GPT) technology.
For more information, see Investigating-ML-based-situations.
Root cause view for situations
For an ML-based situation, the Root Cause View (default) on the situation details page displays the root cause event and consequent events in a graphical format to help you investigate the root cause easily. Based on the temporal and topological relationships between various causal events in the situation, the ML algorithm determines the root cause event and consequent events. Each event in the graph is aligned against the corresponding CI Kind (such as Host). The impact direction of the graph indicates the impact flow from the root cause event. You can see the impact score percentage displayed along with the event. The total impact score from all the events adds up to 100 percent. Hover over the event to view the impacted node details.
The List View displays all causal events.
For more information, see Investigating-ML-based-situations.
Additional filters in the Prediction Analysis dashboard
You can filter data on the Predictions Analysis dashboard by the service name and impact severity type. By default, the dashboard displays the prediction analysis for all services and severity types.
For more information, see Monitoring-service-predictions.
Enhanced service modeling to connect services
When creating a service model, you can use the Connect to parent Service and Connect to child Service options to easily connect services. These options help you choose the child and parent service of a service from a list. You do not need to scroll on the page and use the drag and drop option to connect services.
For more information, see Creating service models.
Business services and technical services on the Services page
On the Services page, only business services and technical services are displayed by default. Use Advanced filter to select and view business application services on the Heatmap view.
For more information, see Monitoring-service-health.
