This documentation supports the 22.1 version of BMC Helix Single Sign-On, which is available only to BMC Helix customers (SaaS). To view an earlier version, select the version from the Product version menu.

Installing BMC Helix SSO by using the installation wizard


This topic provides instructions for performing BMC Helix Single Sign-On installation on a standalone server and in a high availability (HA) mode by using the installation wizard.

Important

Alternatively, you can install the product components from a command line. For information about this process, see Installing-BMC-Helix-SSO-silently.

Before you begin

Prepare for installation as described in Preparing-for-installation.

To install the BMC Helix SSO server in standalone mode

  1. On a target server, unzip the BMC Helix SSO installation file to a destination directory.
  2. Depending on your operating system, select the installation program to run the installer:
    • (Windowssetup.exe.
    • (Linuxsh setup.sh.
  3. In the lower-right corner of the Welcome panel, click Next.
  4. Review the license agreement, click I agree to the terms of license agreement, and then click Next.
  5. Enter the values from the Installation-worksheets for the features that you want to install. The Installation Preview panel is displayed, which contains a list of products and features that would be installed.
  6. Click Next.
    After post-installation cleanup, a summary of the installation appears.
  7. Click View Log to review any SEVERE error messages or warnings in the product installer log.
    Check whether errors are due to network, host, or other environment-related issues. You can view a log file of the installation: 
    • C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Temp\remedysso_install_log.txt (Windows) 
    • /tmp/remedysso_install_log.txt (Linux)
  8. Close the log and click Done to exit the installer.

To install the BMC Helix SSO server in high availability mode 

Important

You cannot install BMC Helix SSO in high availability mode with the embedded PostgreSQL database type.

  1. Ensure that BMC Helix SSO is installed successfully on the primary node.
  2. Unzip the BMC Helix SSO files on a secondary node.
  3. Enter the values from the Installation-worksheets to run the installation program as described in Installing the BMC Helix SSO server in standalone mode. Make sure that you apply the following installation settings on the secondary node:
    • The database settings must be the same as the settings used by the primary node.
    • The database user name and password must be the same as on the primary node.
    • In the Assign database user field, select the Use Existing User option.
  4. Follow the instructions on the UI to complete the rest of the installation steps.
