Security

Ensuring security through single sign-on

BMC ensures security of products in BMC Remedy IT Service Management Suite through its single sign-on products. A single sign-on product is a gateway to authenticate users’ credentials prior to providing them access. In addition, single sign-on enables a single sign-on and sign-off for users. Users present credentials only once for authentication and subsequently be automatically authenticated by every product in BMC Remedy ITSM Suite that is integrated into the system.

The single sign-on products can be installed on a standalone server or in a high availability cluster. A load balancer is used as a front end to the cluster, giving the external applications the appearance of a single server. The load balancer distributes requests among single sign-on servers. In the event of a system failure, the load balancer redirects requests to the remaining servers.

BMC Single Sign-On products

BMC has the following two single sign-on offerings that support the BMC Remedy ITSM Suite.

For now, BMC Remedy Single Sign-On can be integrated with BMC Remedy AR System, BMC Remedy Mid-tier, BMC Remedy with Smart IT or MyIT, and BMC Analytics for BSM.
