Integrating BMC Remedy AR System and Mid Tier

The typical method for integrating BMC Atrium Single Sign-On with BMC Remedy AR System is to install BMC Atrium Single Sign-On, install BMC Remedy AR System, and then integrate with BMC Remedy AR System. In this release, you use the BMC Atrium Single Sign-On unified installer interface to integrate BMC Remedy AR System with the BMC Atrium Single Sign-On solution. To perform the integration, you must first run the installer on the computer where the AR System server is installed, and then you run the installer a second time on the computer where the mid tier is installed.

After performing the steps mentioned in the installation topic, follow the integration steps mentioned here.

Before you begin

  • Ensure that you have installed BMC Atrium Single Sign-On, BMC Remedy AR System and BMC Remedy Mid Tier before following the steps mentioned in this topic. For more information, see Installing BMC Atrium Single Sign-On with the AR System server and Mid Tier.
  • If you want to use the latest features of BMC Atrium Single Sign-On 9.0, you must upgrade to the 9.0 web agents libraries on your existing BMC product servers. You do not need to reintegrate your products with BMC Atrium Single Sign-On. Contact the respective BMC product administrator for upgrading agent libraries.

Integration steps

  1. Running the BMC Atrium Single Sign-On Installer on AR System server

    Note

The BMC Atrium Single Sign-On version 9.0 installer can only be used for integration with BMC Remedy AR System installed on Microsoft Windows and RedHat Linux platforms. Use the SSOARIntegration utility for integrating with BMC Remedy AR System server installed on other platforms. For more information, see Running the SSOARIntegration utility on the AR System server.

  2. Reviewing AR server external authentication settings and configuring group mapping
  3. Running the BMC Atrium Single Sign-On Installer on BMC Remedy Mid Tier

    Note

The BMC Atrium Single Sign-On version 9.0 installer can only be used for integration with BMC Remedy Mid Tier installed on Microsoft Windows and RedHat Linux platforms. Use the SSOMidTierIntegration utility for integrating with BMC Remedy Mid Tier server installed on other platforms. For more information, see Running the SSOMidTierIntegration utility on the AR System server.

  4. Managing the AR System users and groups for authentication
  5. Running a health check on the BMC Atrium Single Sign-On installation

For more information about integrating with BMC Remedy AR System, see the BMC Remedy AR System online documentation for installing and integrating information.

    Hi,

We've just installed Atrium SSO 9.0 in HA cluster mode and there is one important thing that is missing from documentation. It seems that after the deployment, all Web-service end-points were updated to contain the FQDN of the Mid-tier (or LB if you have one). This rendered all our web-service integrations not working.

Before the deployment the Web-services used short hostnames, e.g. "server1", but after the deployment that was changed to "server1.corp.org". If there is an attempt to connect on an end-point at "server1", the attempt will fail.

I think this is important and must be added to the documentation, i.e. explain that after the deployment of SSO, ALL web-service urls need to use FQDNs.

      Hi Debasish,

Thank you for your comment. BMC supports only BMC Remedy Single Sign-On with BMC AR System 9.1.

You may want to refer Installing BMC Remedy Single Sign-On for further information.

What is about combination AR System 8.1 with Atrium SSO 9.0. We want to upgrade Midtier from version 8.1 to 9.1 because of better handling cache issues. Will that combination work ?

AR server 8.1, Atrium SSO 9.0 and new MT 9.1 ?

    Regards,

    Samo

      Hi Samo,

      Thank you for your comment.

AR System 8.1 will work with Atrium SSO 9.0. But if you are looking for a new install of Atrium SSO 9.0, BMC recommends that you install Remedy Single Sign-On. It is compatible with AR System 8.1.

If you are upgrading Mid Tier from 8.1 to 9.1, we recommend using Remedy Single Sign-On and not Atrium SSO. Also, note that from 9.1, we do not support Atrium SSO.

      Regards,

      Kamal
