Creating virtual marketplace entitlements


As a service catalog administrator, internal service supplier, internal service supplier administrator, or asset manager, you create virtual marketplaces to associate services, bundles, and banners that appear in a BMC Helix Digital Workplace user's catalog for users who can access them.

Before you begin

To create a virtual marketplace

  1. Log in to the Catalog console.
  2. Select Services > Entitlements.
  3. Click New Virtual Marketplace.
  4. In the Virtual Marketplace Name field, specify a name.
  5. Click Create.

To rename or remove an existing virtual marketplace

  1. Select a virtual marketplace.
  2. Click icon-option.png, and select Edit name.

  3. Enter a name in the field, and click Save.

To display companies that do not have associated organizations in Action Request System

By default, when you associate a virtual marketplace with a company, only those companies which have organizations created for them in the CTM:People form of AR System are displayed. 

To display companies that do not have organizations, you must complete the following steps:

  1. Log in in to Catalog console.
  2. Click the Application Settings image2023-2-8_14-49-18.pngicon.
  3. In the Service Catalog section, enable the Display companies without organizations in Entitlements toggle.

To add services, bundles, and banners to virtual marketplaces

You can add and remove services, bundles, and banners in the Services and Banners section of the Edit Virtual Marketplace pane.

  1. In the Catalog console, select Services >Entitlements.
  2. Open a virtual marketplace.
  3. To add services and bundles to a virtual marketplace:
    1. Click Add next to Catalog, and search for or filter services and bundles that you want to add.
    2. Select one or more services and bundles, and click Add.

  4. To add banners to the virtual marketplace:
    1. Next to Banners, click Add.
    2. Select one or more banners, and click Add.

To add users to a virtual marketplace

  1. In the Catalog console, select Services >Entitlements.
  2. Open a virtual marketplace.
  3. To add all users to a virtual marketplace, turn on the Everyone toggle key in the Edit Virtual Marketplace pane.

    All users will have access to the services, banners, and bundles in this virtual marketplace.

  4. To add individual users, complete the following steps:
    1. Click Add next to Users.
    2. Search for or filter users that you want to add.

      Important

      Only users with the Enabled profile status in BMC Helix ITSM are available for search.

    3. Select one or more users, and click Add.

You can add users to a virtual marketplace by filtering them with the following fields from the CTM:People and (the Support Organization category only) CTM:Support Group forms:

    In the Support Organization category, you can select a whole organization or individual groups. Members of this support group will be able to view and access services and bundles that are entitled to this support group.

  • Static fields:
    • Assignment Availability
    • Client Sensitivity
    • Client Type
    • License Type
    • Notification Availability
    • Support Staff
    • Unrestricted Access
    • VIP
  • Dynamically defined fields that are displayed only if they are:
    • Customized fields (specific fields that do not exist in a standard CTM:People form
    • Selection type fields
    • Not Core fields
    • Not Display Only fields (Entry Type = Display)
    • Visible in the UI

The relationship between People and Support Groups is stored in the CTM:Support Group People Assoc Join form. The list of Support Groups of a company is also retrieved from this form.

Filter names in BMC Helix Digital Workplace Catalog correspond to fields in the CTM:People form. Filter lists display values dynamically generated from existing user profiles in BMC Helix ITSM

To add multiple users from dynamic filters of BMC Helix ITSM attributes

  1. In the Catalog console, select Services > Entitlements.
  2. Open a virtual marketplace.
  3. Next to Attributes, click Add.
  4. To filter users by core fields:
    1. Click the ITSM Core tab, and expand the available categories as needed.

      Important

      ITSM Core attributes with no values are displayed as labels in the attributes tree.

    2. Select the attributes that you want to assign, and click Save.
  5. To filter users by other fields, perform the following steps:
    1. Click the Other Fields tab, and expand the available categories as needed.

    2. Select the attributes that you want to assign, and click Save.

To assign administrators for virtual marketplaces

  1. In the Catalog console, select Services > Entitlements.
  2. Open a virtual marketplace.
  3. Next to Managers, click Add to find administrators to add.
    The User Directory pane contains the list of users with the appropriate permissions to manage virtual marketplaces.
  4. Search for or filter users that you want to add.
  5. Select one or more users, and then click Add.
