Enabling and configuring Catalog Curator

As an administrator, provide catalog administrators with AI tools for creating services in the BMC Helix Digital Workplace Catalog. Enable the Catalog Curator within the catalog to create refined and optimized catalog services effectively. This AI agent can also assist catalog administrators with editing services and creating surveys.

Before you beginEdit

The Catalog Curator is by default configured with the Azure GPT 4.1 large language model, which is provided out of the box. Make sure that you have selected the appropriate skill in the HelixGPT Agent Studio for the Catalog Curator. For more information about the supported large language models, see Models in BMC HelixGPT.

Important

Do not modify the default settings of the prebuilt skills, agents, and prompts. Modifications in the default settings are not supported.

Skill for creating services

  • In the HelixGPT Agent Studio, the Catalog Service Curator agent is available out of the box for creating and editing services. You must use the prebuilt skill, Catalog Service Curator. For more information, see Prebuilt skills in Catalog Curator.
  • To use a different LLM model, select the preferred model for the Catalog Service Curator skill from the list of supported models in the HelixGPT Agent Studio. For more information, see To change the model for a Catalog Curator skill.

Skill for creating surveys

  • In the HelixGPT Agent Studio, the Catalog Survey Curator agent is available out of the box for creating surveys. You must use the prebuilt skill, Catalog Survey Curator. For more information, see Prebuilt skills for Catalog Curator.
  • To use a different LLM model than the default, select the preferred model for the Catalog Survey Curator skill from the list of supported models in the HelixGPT Agent Studio. For more information, see To change the model for a Catalog Curator skill.

To change the model for a Catalog Curator skill

  1. Log in to BMC Helix Innovation Studio and navigate to the Workspace tab.
  2. From the Applications, select HelixGPT Agents Studio.
  3. From the list of Records, search for Skill.
  4. Select the Skill record definition checkbox and click Edit data.
  5. Search for the skill description. For example, Catalog Survey Curator.
  6. Select the corresponding record and click Edit.
  7. The Edit record panel is displayed.
  8. To disable the associated model data, turn off the toggle for Seed data.
  9. Click Save.

To associate another model with a skill

To associate another model with the intended Catalog Curator skill, perform the following steps:

  1. Navigate to the Workspace tab.
  2. From the Applications, select HelixGPT Agents Studio.
  3. Click Visit deployed application to open the console.
  4. From the Application list, select BMC Helix Digital Workplace Catalog.
  5. Select one of the Catalog Curator skills for which you want to change the model.
  6. From the Provider and Model lists, select the service provider and model version that you want to associate.
  7. Click Apply.

To enable the Catalog CuratorEdit

  1. Log in to BMC Helix Digital Workplace Catalog.
  2. Select Services > Services.
  3. On the Service Management page, navigate to the My Services tab.
  4. Go to Application settings by clicking on the settings icon located at the top right corner.
  5. Turn on the toggle for Catalog curator to access the following tabs on the Catalog console:
    1. Catalog Assistant—To create services.
    2. Edit with AI—To edit services that are in Draft state.
    3. Survey Assistant—To create surveys.

Important

Refreshing the Catalog console after enabling the Catalog curator toggle might intermittently cause the Catalog Assistant tab to disappear. See Known and corrected issues (support login is required) for the workaround.

To index the BMC Helix Business Workflows case templates for Catalog Curator

Perform the following steps before you ask the Catalog Curator to create a service with a case template for the first time:

  1. In HelixGPT Agent Studio, click the Settings icon.
  2. Select HelixGPT > Connections > Information sources.
  3. Copy the ID for the Helix BWF Case Template Connection.

  4. Select BMC Helix Innovation Studio > HelixGPT Agent Studio.
  5. In the Records section, search for DataConnectionjob.
  6. Select DataConnectionjob and click Edit data.
    Important: For the first time, the list contains no recorded entries. Clear previous entries, if any.
  7. To create a new record, click New.
  8. Enter the Datasource as: BWF_CASE_TEMPLATE.
  9. In the ConnectionId field, enter the ID you copied earlier.
  10. To run the data connection job, click ExecuteNow. 
  11. To store the new record, click Save.

Important
  • Make sure both the DataConnection and the assistant are configured to use the same OpenSearch index.
  • For first-time setup, clear any previously indexed data from the OpenSearch index before running the data connection job. 

(Optional) To configure the Catalog Curator viewEdit

  1. Log in to BMC Helix Innovation Studio.
  2. Select Workspace > Digital Workplace Catalog > Views > Catalog Service Curator.
  3. Select the HelixGPT chat component.
  4. In the Component properties, select the HelixGPT chat skill to use for the Catalog Curator by clicking on the component view​​​​.

  5. Click Save.

  6. Click Preview to see the URL from the address bar. 
    For example, https://https://companyURL/myit-sb/preview/myit-sb:Catalog%20Service%20Curator.

  7. Copy the URL to enable the Catalog Curator view, as explained in the To configure the URL for the Catalog Curator view.

(Optional) To configure the URL for the Catalog Curator viewEdit

  1. Log in to the BMC Helix Innovation Studio.
  2. Select Administration > Digital Workplace Catalog > Global > Catalog Service Curator.
  3. Modify the copied URL by replacing preview with the iview.
    For example, https://companyURL/myit-sb/iview/myit-sb:Catalog%20Service%20Curator.

  4. Enter the modified URL in the Catalog Service Curator View URL field.

  5. Click Save.

After you save the configuration, the cache is rebuilt, and the Catalog Assistant button for the Catalog Curator is available on the BMC Helix Digital Workplace Catalog console after a few minutes.

(Optional) To configure the URL for the AI Service Editor view

  1. Log in to the BMC Helix Innovation Studio.
  2. Select Administration > Digital Workplace Catalog > Global > Catalog Service Curator.
  3. Modify the copied URL by replacing preview with the iview.
    For example, https://companyURL/myit-sb/iview/myit-sb:Catalog%20Service%20Edit%20Curator.
  4. Enter the modified URL in the Catalog Service Curator View URL field.
