20.15.03.050.023: Patch 1 for version 20.15.03

Ability to recompile Apex classes

The system administrators can now recompile Apex classes to enhance the performance after an upgrade.

  1. After your organization is upgraded, click the Remedyforce Administration tab.
  2. From the warning message displayed at the top of the screen, click Clicking here.
  3. On the Apex classes page, click Compile all classes.

To make sure that the Apex classes are recompiled, you can check the Is Valid column for the checkmark.jpg icon. The Is Valid column is not displayed by default in the list view on the Apex Classes page. To add the Is Valid column, perform the following steps:

  1. Go to Setup > Develop > Apex Classes and click Create New View.
  2. Enter the required values for the View Name and the View Unique Name fields.
  3. Under Select Fields to Display, select Is Valid from the Available Fields column and using the Add arrow, move the field to the Selected Fields column.
  4. Click Save.

The Is Valid column is now displayed on the Apex Classes page.

Model and normalization updates

The following table lists the updates that BMC Remedyforce 20.15.03.050.023 provides for managing models and normalizing data:

Ability to synchronize updates to attributes defined in a model with linked CIs and assets.

On the Model form, the Sync Asset and CI Instances icon (model_sync.gif) has been added.

System administrators can now click this icon to synchronize updates to attributes defined in a model with linked CIs and assets.

Ability to generate models based on unique values in the Model attribute (data type: Text) in existing CI and asset instances in BMC Remedyforce CMDB.

On the Remedyforce Administration > Configure CMDB 2.0 > CMDB General Settings page, the Model Generation section has been added.

To generate models based on unique values in the Model attribute (data type: Text) in existing CIs and assets, system administrators can click Generate Model Records.

Ability to create ignored value rules for a specific combination of object and field. The normalization process does not generate exceptions for these ignored values.

On the Remedyforce Administration> Configure CMDB 2.0 > Normalization Rules tab, the following updates are now available:

  • In the list view, the new Rule Type column indicates the type of the normalization rules. The Views menu also includes two new check boxes, Normalization Rules and Ignored Values Rules, that enable system administrators to filter rules that are displayed in the list view.
  • On the New Rule tab, a new Rule Type field is displayed, which contains the Normalization Rule and Ignored Value Rule options. If system administrators select the Ignored Value Rule type, only the Ignored Value text box is displayed. In addition, the Map Aliases section and the Generate exceptions to rules for selected object and field check box are not displayed.

Ability to create normalization and ignored value rules for the Model field in the Base Element object.

From the Remedyforce Administration > Configure CMDB 2.0 > Normalization Rules tab, system administrators can now create a normalization or ignored value rule for the Base Element object and Model field.

If you are creating a normalization rule, in the Normalized Value box, you must select from an existing list of models.

Ability to create models from normalization exceptions that are generated for the Base Element object and Model field.

On the Normalization Exceptions: Pending tab, the Create New Model link has been added. This link is displayed only for exceptions that are generated for the Base Element object and Model field.

System administrators can create a model from an exception. The model is automatically applied to the CIs and assets for which the normalization exception was generated.

Ability to delete or ignore exceptions generated by the normalization process.

On the Normalization Exceptions: Pending tab, the Delete and Generate Ignore Rule buttons have been added.

To access this tab, navigate to Remedyforce Administration > Configure CMDB 2.0 > Normalization Exceptions, and for a specific object and field combination, click the record count link in the Pending Count column.

System administrators can select one or more exceptions and click Delete or Generate Ignore Rule.

BMC Remedyforce Data Dictionary

The BMC Remedyforce Data Dictionary is now available in the Summer 15 (20.15.03) documentation. The Data Dictionary is a repository of information about the objects in which data is stored and provides details about the fields in each object.

You can use this data dictionary to understand the objects and fields from which you can export data from BMC Remedyforce to an external tool, such as a reporting application. You can also use this information to plan the import of data from an external tool to BMC Remedyforce.

Version 1 of the BMC Remedyforce Data Dictionary includes the various objects that store data related to incidents, problems, tasks, change requests, service requests, and releases. For more information, see BMC-Remedyforce-Data-Dictionary.

BMC Remedyforce REST APIs

BMC Remedyforce REST APIs are now published in the Summer 15 (20.15.03) documentation. Many of the REST APIs are related to service request definitions (SRD), service requests, approvals, and knowledge management. For more information, see Remedyforce-REST-API.

Upgrading

BMC will automatically push version 20.15.03.050.023 (Summer 15 Patch 1) to all sandbox and production organizations on versions 20.15.03.050 (Summer 15) as scheduled on the Release Schedules page. 

If you are using profiles or custom permission sets to manage permissions for your users, you have to manually update permissions after your organization is upgraded to the latest version of BMC Remedyforce. You must perform these procedures for both self-upgrade and automatic upgrade. If you are upgrading from a few releases prior to the latest release, you must update permissions for each interim release.
