Altering the resource expiration date
You can alter the expiration date for the following resource types:
- Archive data sets
- Backup data sets
- Import data sets
- Cloud Data Sets
- Full volume dumps
The Alter action supports all types of expirations (generation based, SMS based, VTOC, CATALOG, and user specified)
To alter the resource expiration date
To alter a single resource, click
in the resource row, and select Alter. To alter multiple resources, select one or more resources from the list and click Alter at the top of the resources list.
The Alter window is displayed listing the name, volume, and expiration date of each selected resource.
- In the Alter dialog box, perform the following steps.
Select one of the following retention types from the Retention list:
Retention type
Description
Forever
The resource never expires.
Period
The resource expires after the specified period, starting from when you alter the resource. You can specify the period by days, weeks, months, or years.
From the list, select the time period (days, weeks, months, or years), and enter the time value in units in the field.
Date
The resource expires on the specified date.
Use the date picker to select the date.
- From the Executing agent list, select the required executing agent.
- Click Alter. The username and password fields are displayed.
- Enter your user name and password.
- Click Alter.
A corresponding alter activity is displayed in the Activities page.
