The ALTER command alters the expiration date of backup, archive, and Cloud Data Set (CDS) data sets.

Important

If you are using HCP, Pure Storage, or Cohesity, you must enable versioning to use the ALTER command.

Logic

The ALTER command accepts one resource at a time. You must specify one of the following types of data sets:

CDS
BACKUP
ARCHIVE
VOLUME

You must have ALTER access to the data set being altered.

Important

You can't alter data set backups that were created as part of a full volume dump (physical backups). The retention is derived from the full volume backup.

Warning

When assigning an explicit expiration date to a resource that expired by using ALTER, AMI Cloud still honors the earliest expiration criteria.

Syntax

M9CLI ALTER <dataSetName> TYPE(<CDS|BACKUP|ARCHIVE>)

UNIQUEID(<uniqueID>)

DATE(yyyy/mm/dd)

[PURGE]

Required parameters

Parameter	Description	Format
dataSetName	A specific data set name, which can be enclosed in apostrophes	Full name
TYPE	Type of data set Warning Important CDS IMPORTS are not supported.	Valid values are: CDS BACKUP ARCHIVE VOLUME
UNIQueid	An 8-byte ID that, when combined with the data set name, identifies each backup copy	First 8 characters
DATE	Specifies a future date on which to expire the selected data set. You cannot specify a date that has already passed.	yyyy/mm/dd
