Upgrading the TrueSight Installed RSSO
TrueSight installer for Remedy SSO recommendations
- The TrueSight installer for Remedy SSO is available for versions 11.0.00 and 11.3.01 only and 11.3.01 is that last version of the installer. There is no TrueSight installer for Remedy SSO 11.3.02 and later versions.
- You can choose to install using the TrueSight installer for Remedy SSO version 11.3.01 and then upgrade to any of the supported versions of the Remedy SSO server using the Remedy SSO installer.
- If you have installed and configured TrueSight installer for Remedy SSO (consolidated installer) version 11.0 or 11.3.01 and want to upgrade to Remedy SSO to 18.11 or later, BMC recommends you to use the Remedy SSO installer to upgrade.
- Ensure that you have performed the steps mentioned in Best practices before upgrading Remedy SSO section before you upgrade to version 18.11 or later.
- BMC does not provide any 3rd party product updates even if you have used the TrueSight installer for Remedy SSO to install Remedy SSO.
- The Remedy SSO installer contains only the Remedy SSO Server and doesn't contain any prerequisite software, such as JRE, Tomcat or Databases.
- BMC recommends you to start using the Remedy SSO installer to do a fresh install or upgrade of Remedy SSO. For more information, see Installing or Upgrading.
Migrate to a new environment (Recommended)
- Install the latest of the supported versions of the Remedy SSO server using the Remedy SSO installer. For installing Remedy SSO using the Remedy installer, see Installing.
- Plan https://docs.bmc.com/docs/rsso/2002/planning
- Prepare: https://docs.bmc.com/docs/rsso/2002/preparing-for-installation
- Obtain and install supported versions of 3rd party products: BMC SOLUTION AND PRODUCT AVAILABILITY AND COMPATIBILITY UTILITY (SPAC)
- Operating systems
- Database requirements
- Third-party prerequisites
- Products compatibility
- It is up to the customer to update the 3rd party products as per the respective 3rd party provider.
e.g.
- for Apache/Tomcat product download and installation instructions: https://tomcat.apache.org/download-80.cgi
- for Java JDK/JRE product downloads and installation instructions : https://adoptopenjdk.net/
- for PostgreSql product downloads and installation instructions: https://www.postgresql.org/download/
- Perform the RSSO install after the 3rd Party components are installed and configured. https://docs.bmc.com/docs/rsso/2002/performing-the-installation-908954426.html
- If necessary, apply Private certificates : https://docs.bmc.com/docs/rsso/2002/configuring-certificate-based-authentication-908954490.html
- If migrating from ASSO to RSSO, migrate the SSO configuration: Migrating internal user data from Atrium Single Sign-On to Remedy Single Sign-On
- You will need to change the Authorization Type from AR to LOCAL for the * Realm
- You will need to reconfigure any RSSO integrations with LDAP, SAML, KERBEROS, etc.. manually.
- Cool new enhancement in RSSO 20.02!!!! SAML users don't have to manually create Local Groups & Users for Authentication Profile mapping to TSPS!
- The Xpath 1.0 for group retrieval new parameter has been added on the Authentication tab of a SAML realm.
- See this doc link for details: https://docs.bmc.com/docs/rsso/2002/importing-configuration-from-an-identity-provider-and-configuring-saml-908954525.html
- It is not currently possible to migrate internal user data from an earlier version of RSSO. Make use of this Knowledge Article to create them if upgrading the existing TrueSight Presentation Server: If RSSO is reinstalled, how do the internal users/groups get recreated for TSPS
TrueSight Operations Management
What's New and Changed in 11.3.04?
- The 11.3.04 version is a full product release, not a Service or Fix pack.
- TSIM Ops Console has been dropped: Deprecated-and-dropped-features-and-components.
- What's moved from the TSIM to TSPS console: Operator-console-workflows-available-in-the-TrueSight-console.
- BMC self signed certificates have been updated in the 11.3.04 release. These new self signed certificates will be updated during the upgrade of each component.
This does not effect customers using their own private certificates.
If you are unable to upgrade all components at the same time, you will need to import the updated certificates to the components that have not yet been upgraded.
You can use the new tssh or pw certificate import commands referenced here:
