Product overview
The PATROL Agent and Knowledge Modules (KMs) are used to collect data in BMC Helix Operations Management. The PATROL Agent provides the required infrastructure to KMs to collect data. The following image shows how BMC Helix Operations Management collects data for monitoring by using the PATROL Agent and KMs:

After you install KMs and the PATROL Agent, configure the monitor policies in BMC Helix Operations Management. Data collection begins after you enable the monitor policies. Use the Devices page in BMC Helix Operations Management to view the collected data.
PATROL for SAP Cloud ALM Knowledge Module
is a monitoring solution that integrates with BMC Helix Operations Management to collect, analyze, and visualize performance and health information from SAP application systems that are managed through SAP Cloud ALM. The KM enables users to gain visibility into SAP cloud application systems, detect issues proactively, and manage system health efficiently by using centralized monitoring, metrics, and events.
monitors SAP application systems managed through SAP Cloud ALM. The KM collects system status and health information from SAP Cloud ALM and presents this data in BMC Helix Operations Management for centralized monitoring and alerting.
Use the KM to monitor the following entities:
| Entites | Description |
|---|---|
SAP Application System | The SAP system discovered from SAP Cloud ALM. Each system is an application or workload running in the SAP environment, and the KM monitors the basic status and availability of the application. |
SAP ABAP System | The SAP system based on the ABAP stack. The KM monitors whether the system is available and operating correctly by using data from SAP Cloud ALM. |
Services | The logical services that are discovered from SAP Cloud ALM. The following services can be discovered:
Each service represents an application or integration, and the KM monitors the health, performance, and availability of the application. |
Landscape objects | The Landscape instance that is discovered from SAP Cloud ALM. Each object is a single system in your landscape, and the KM monitors its availability, connectivity, and overall system health. |

Product features
The KM provides the following capabilities:
| Features | Description |
|---|---|
Centralized Monitoring | Monitors SAP systems and services through SAP Cloud ALM, which acts as the central point for monitoring and data collection. The KM uses SAP Cloud ALM APIs to discover systems and services and to collect health and performance metrics. For more information, see Configuring after installation. |
Discovery of SAP ALM Entities and key metrics | Discovers the SAP system landscape through SAP Cloud ALM, including systems and services such as S/4HANA, CPI, and ABAP environments. KM also collects key health and performance metrics for these entities, such as availability, response time, error rates, and resource utilization. For more information, see Monitor types and attributes. |
Performance graphs | Visualizes performance graphs created by using the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) of the monitor type. By using the graphing options, you can dynamically change the metric or other graph data. You can view hourly, weekly, monthly, or quarterly graph data. To learn more about viewing the performance graph, see Viewing the performance overview. |
Events | Displays intelligent events on the selected attributes and for the selected duration. PATROL Agent events that are associated with monitors are also considered intelligent events. To learn more about viewing event details, see Viewing event details. |
