Architecture

The  Knowledge Module (KM) enables the PATROL Agent to discover and monitor the SAP Cloud infrastructure. The KM collects key performance and availability metrics for SAP Cloud ALM Services and Landscape Objects and streams them to BMC Helix Operations Management .

The following section explains how the KM works to monitor the SAP Cloud ALM infrastructure:

The administrator creates a monitor policy in BMC Helix Operations Management .
The policy includes the following configurations:

  • SAP Cloud ALM connection details
  • REST API authentication credentials (OAuth‑based)
  • System status and metric collection configuration

  1. The BMC Helix Operations Management  pushes the monitor policy to the PATROL Agent on the target system.
  2. The PATROL Agent receives the monitor policy. Based on this policy, the SAP Cloud ALM KM starts the SAP Cloud ALM collector to begin monitoring.

  3. The SAP Cloud ALM collector establishes a connection with the SAP Cloud ALM infrastructure by using REST API authentication. The connection uses OAuth‑based authentication to securely access SAP Cloud ALM system information.

  1. SAP Cloud ALM provides access to information about SAP application systems deployed in the cloud environment.

  2. After establishing a connection to SAP Cloud ALM, the collector discovers all SAP application systems that are exposed by SAP Cloud ALM.

  3. The KM creates corresponding PATROL Agent application instances for the discovered SAP application systems.

  1. The SAP Cloud ALM collector begins periodic data collection, retrieving the status and health information for the discovered SAP application systems.

  2. The PATROL Agent processes the collected information and maps it to the appropriate PATROL application instances.

The PATROL Agent streams the processed metrics to BMC Helix Operations Management .

The BMC Helix Operations Management  uses this data to create dashboards, generate alerts, and perform anomaly detection.
