26.2 enhancements
26.2
This is the release of BMC Helix Discovery version 26.2.
This version of BMC Helix Discovery introduces the following enhancements:
- Deep container discovery enhancements
- Discover communication relationships for software running in containers
- Container-to-container links
- Links from contained software to external software and load balancer services
- Automatic modeling of custom software running in containers
- Data model consistency improvements
- BMC Helix Discovery stores contained software in the "contained" partition in the datastore. You can view contained software by adding the Containerized Software channel to your dashboard view. See Default dashboards and Customizing dashboards for more information.
- Discover communication relationships for software running in containers
- The UI and workflow for creating service models and rules templates by using a visual query has been improved.
- Named values are supported. A named value is a text variable whose value is derived from a starting attribute on the node by a transformation.
- The notes editor has been improved and now supports reStructuredText in addition to the previously supported formatting.
- The mainframe legacy agent API (NVBAPI) scan|Mainframe Discovery using the legacy agent API (NVBAPI) is deprecated in BMC Helix Discovery 26.2 and will be removed in a future release. It is replaced by the REST-based Mainframe API provider.
The 26.2 version of BMC Helix Discovery applies the Technology Knowledge Update TKU 2026-May-1
26.1.02
This is the release of BMC Helix Discovery version 26.1.02.
This version of BMC Helix Discovery introduces the following enhancements:
- Integration with third-party credential manager ARCON PAM Digital Vault. The ARCON PAM Digital Vault is application software that stores and manages credentials securely, according to the policies that your organization implements. For the BMC Helix Discovery instance to be able to access the ARCON PAM Digital Vault, you must perform the integration from the BMC Discovery Outpost on the Manage > Vault Providers page.
- The CyberArk CCP REST API integration supports a Custom URL path so that the specified URL can be used without any default additions.
- CAM definitions can now be added to a group which does not already contain any functional component definitions.
- The receiver queue size is displayed in the Consolidation UI.
The 26.1.02 version of BMC Helix Discovery applies the Technology Knowledge Update TKU 2026-Apr-1.
26.1.01
This is the release of BMC Helix Discovery version 26.1.01.
This version of BMC Helix Discovery introduces the following enhancements:
- Add Custom certificate authorities to the system. In environments where certificates are valid only within your organization, public certificate validation fails because the certificate chain does not link to public root certificates, even though the certificate itself is trusted internally. Custom certificate authorities are only used by credential brokers.
- Credential brokers can use Custom certificate authorities. They are installed in the BMC Discovery Outpost.
The 26.1.01 version of BMC Helix Discovery applies the Technology Knowledge Update TKU 2026-Mar-1.
26.1
This is the release of BMC Helix Discovery version 26.1.00.
This version of BMC Helix Discovery introduces the following enhancements:
- Mainframe discovery by using an API provider. BMC Helix Discovery discovers the same information as the existing NVBAPI, it is a new access method to the BMC Mainframe z/OS Agent. The API provider method can use a client certificate rather than a username/password combination, though the username/password combination is still supported.
- Where hosts were discovered where a Discovery Condition is triggered, the Host page in the UI provides a banner stating that the Discovery Conditon was used.
The 26.1.00 version of BMC Helix Discovery applies the Technology Knowledge Update TKU 2026-Feb-1.
25.4.02
This is the release of BMC Helix Discovery version 25.4.02.
This version of BMC Helix Discovery introduces enhancements to synchronization to ServiceNow CMDB. The following items are synchronized to ServiceNow CMDB:
- End-of-Life data
- Tags
Additionally, data can be synchronized to a table in ServiceNow CMDB. For more information on the enhancements to synchronization to ServiceNow CMDB, see the following: Preparing ServiceNow CMDB for synchronization and ServiceNow Mapping for multiple device types.
The 25.4.02 version of BMC Helix Discovery applies the Technology Knowledge Update TKU 2025-Jan-2.
25.4.01
This is the release of BMC Helix Discovery version 25.4.01.
This version of BMC Helix Discovery introduces the following capabilities:
- Download a default Windows JEA Role Configuration file from the BMC Helix Discovery UI. By using JEA in BMC Helix Discovery, you can discover Windows hosts without providing credentials with full administrator access. To configure JEA effectively, you must add all of the cmdlets and executables that you want to enable to an allow list. The default configuration covers basic Host discovery, that is, those in the platform scripts. Commands run by patterns are not covered and must be added as required. See Discovering Windows hosts by using PowerShell for more information.
- Support for Boolean and none values in parameterized queries in the visual query builder. See Using the visual query builder and Using the visual query builder tools.
The 25.4.01 version of BMC Helix Discovery applies the Technology Knowledge Update TKU 2025-Dec-1.
25.4
This is the release of BMC Helix Discovery version 25.4.00.
This version of BMC Helix Discovery introduces the following capabilities:
- Discovery of Windows hosts by using PowerShell credentials does not rely on NTLM. Select Kerberos to specify Kerberos authentication. Kerberos authentication requires either that the BMC Discovery Outpost's host is in the same domain as the target or that a DNS lookup of the target's IP address returns the correct hostname, and that the username is in the form username@dns.domain. For more information, see Adding credentials.
- Data sources support using https proxies. To add an https proxy, specify the proxy URL and port. For more information, see Adding data sources.
The 25.4.00 version of BMC Helix Discovery applies the Technology Knowledge Update TKU 2025-Nov-1.
25.3.02
This is the release of BMC Helix Discovery version 25.3.02.
This version of BMC Helix Discovery introduces the following capabilities:
- Improves the display of BMC Discovery Outposts in the Home page. When more that three BMC Discovery Outposts are connected, three are displayed, and a Show all link is provided.
- If an Outpost is disabled, any credentials held by that Outpost are not available, and its entry is dimmed. See Configuring credentials for more information.
The 25.3.02 version of BMC Helix Discovery applies the Technology Knowledge Update TKU 2025-Oct-1.
See the TKU July for more information about the TKU schedule change.
25.3.01
This is the release of BMC Helix Discovery version 25.3.01.
This version of BMC Helix Discovery introduces the following capabilities:
- Adds constants to the search language. See Using the Query Language for more information. The following constants are available:
- true
- false
- none
- Provides filters to identify and avoid populating UUID, Serial, and HostID with invalid values. See the Device Identification section in Configuring discovery settings for more information.
- When viewing a blueprint model definition (rules_template), clicking Run as Query shows the Visual Query Builder view of the template.
The 25.3.01 version of BMC Helix Discovery retains the Technology Knowledge Update TKU 2025-Jul-1. See the TKU July for more information about the TKU schedule change.
Change of supported OS for BMC Discovery Outpost
The minimum supported version of the OS for the BMC Discovery Outpost is Windows Server 2016. Before upgrading your BMC Discovery Outposts you must upgrade any BMC Discovery Outpost hosts to Windows Server 2016 and later.
