Managing data streams

Data streams help you control how and when data is collected from sources and sent to the destination in BMC Helix Intelligent Integrations. 

You can start and stop data streams to control data collection based on operational needs, maintenance windows, or troubleshooting scenarios. Deleting a data stream removes unused data flows, reducing unnecessary processing, while adding new data streams helps you handle large data volumes more efficiently by splitting data into multiple filtered streams.

To start data streams

  • To start all data streams for an individual source, turn on the SOURCES toggle key.

  • To start all data streams for all the sources simultaneously, turn on the DESTINATIONS toggle key.

To stop data streams

  • To stop all data streams for an individual source, turn off the SOURCES toggle key.

  • To stop all data streams for all sources simultaneously, turn off the DESTINATIONS toggle key.

  • To stop a specific data stream for an individual source, click the source, click the dot icon in the center of the data stream, and click Stop for the data stream.

To delete a specific data stream

To delete a specific data stream for an individual source, click the source, click the dot icon in the center of the data stream, and click Delete.

To add a new data stream for a connection instance

You can create multiple streams for a data type for a connection instance. This approach is beneficial when handling large volumes of data. You can divide a single data stream into several streams, each with its own filter.

To create a new data stream for an existing connection instance, perform the following steps:

  1. On the CONNECTORS tab, click Add Icon_Add.png on the SOURCES panel.
  2. From the Source Connection list, select an existing connector for which you want to create a new data stream.
  3. From the Destination Connection list, select the destination.
  4. Select the data type for which you want to create the data stream.
  5. To create the required collector data streams, apply the filters for the data type, and click CREATE COLLECTORS.
  6. To create the required distributor streams for the selected data types, click CREATE DISTRIBUTORS.
  7. Perform one of the following actions:
    • Click SAVE STREAM if you want to edit the connector before the data collection starts. After you save the stream, the connector that you just created is listed on the SOURCES panel. For information about editing, see Editing and deleting connectors. You can start the data stream later, as needed. For information about starting a data stream, see To start data streams.
    • Click SAVE AND START STREAM to start the data collection immediately. After you start the stream, the connector that you created is listed on the SOURCES panel. 

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
