Mapping knowledge article status to approvals


After self-approvals or approval flows are defined for knowledge articles, a Knowledge Coach must create an approval mapping for knowledge articles to define the status that triggers an approval.

To map a knowledge article status to an approval

  1. Log in to BMC Helix ITSM or BMC Helix Business Workflows as a Knowledge Coach, and navigate to the knowledge settings based on your product:
    • In BMC Helix ITSM, click Application launcher app_launcher , select the Knowledge Management application, and then click Settings Settings.
    • In BMC Helix Business Workflows, click Settings Settings.
  2. Select Knowledge Management > Approvals.
  3. From the Line of Business list, select the line of business for which you want to create an approval mapping.
    If you have access to a single line of business, the line of business is selected by default.
  4. Click + Approval Mapping.
  5. On the Create Approval Mapping page, specify an Approval Mapping Name.
  6. Select the Company.
  7. Select a value for Status Trigger.
    The available values are Request Cancelation, Publish Approval, and Retire Approval.
  8. Click Save.
  9. To delete an approval mapping that is no longer required, select it in the Approval Configuration console, then click Delete.
