Defining popular services

The top eight most popular services are displayed in the Popular Requests pod in the Request Entry console, with the option to view more.

Popular services are:

  • Services that are most frequently requested during the Popular Services Interval
  • Services that are defined as System Requests in the service request definition (SRD)

To configure the Popular Services Interval

  1. Open the Service Request Definition Settings form, as explained in Setting-options-in-the-Service-Request-Definition-Settings-form.
  2. From the Popular Services Interval list, choose Day, Week (default), or Month.
This interval is the time period within which popularity is determined. For example, if you select Day, the system will select the most frequently requested services for each day, and display the top eight results in the Popular Requests pod. You can view the number of times a particular service has been requested during the Popular Services Interval. For more information, see the Recent Request Count metric in Viewing-metrics-about-an-SRD
  3. Save your changes.

To define a System Request

  1. From the Service Catalog Manager Console, search for an SRD, select it, and click View.
  2. Make sure that the SRD is offline.
  3. In the Definition tab, select Yes for the System Request option.
  4. Save your changes.

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
