Custom configurations in Real-time incident correlation


Based on your business requirements, you can create text custom fields in incidents, and include them in the Group by section of the Real-time incident correlation configuration. You can then use the custom fields to generate clusters in the Real-time incident correlation dashboard.

The following types of custom fields can be created in BMC Helix Innovation Studio:

  • Attachment
  • Boolean
  • Date
  • Date/Time
  • Decimal
  • Floating
  • Integer
  • Localized Text
  • Selection
  • Text
  • Time


Before you begin

Make sure you log in to BMC Helix Innovation Studio as an administrator.


To include a custom non-menu field in the Group by section of Real-time incident correlation configuration

  1. Log in to BMC Helix Innovation Studio as an administrator.
  2. On the Workspace tab, click AI Foundation Service, and then select Field Configuration > Edit data.
  3. Verify the custom field does not exist.
    1. In the Data editor (Field Configuration) page, enter the From: and To: values in the Field ID filter.
      You can derive the Field ID of the custom field from Developer Studio.
    2. Select IC in the Product Type filter.
    3. Select True in the Customer Setting filter.
    4. Click Apply filters.
      If the custom field exists that you want to include in the Group by section, edit the field and skip to step 9.
  4. On the Data editor (Field Configuration) page, click New.
  5. On the New record panel, enter Field ID and Field Name of the custom field. 
    You can derive the values from Developer Studio.

  6. From the Product Type list, select IC.
  7. From the Record Type list, select incident.
  8. Enable Customer Setting.
  9. From the Group by override list, select Include.
    (Optional) Typically, non-categorical fields do not appear in the Group by section of the Real-time incident correlation configuration page. Rather, they appear on the Inputs for machine learning section of the page. To remove a non-categorical field from the Inputs for machine learning section, select Exclude in Inputs for machine learning override
  10. Click Save.
    The custom field appears in the Group by section of the Real-time incident correlation configuration page.
