Patch Orchestrator

Patch Orchestrator helps administrators automate the end-to-end patching workflow in TrueSight Server Automation by coordinating patch analysis, approvals, deployment, retries, and validation through BMC Helix Innovation Studio. The patching activities are made available by connecting to TrueSight Orchestration. When administrators create automation runs by using the Patch Orchestrator, they can build and maintain a patch repository, analyze target servers, and, if necessary, package and deploy patches.

Patch Orchestrator helps improve the patching process and reduces manual effort by executing patching activities directly, enabling faster recovery of your infrastructure with consistent, controlled automation.

Scenario: Triage and remediate incidents by applying missing patches

Susan, a site reliability engineer at Apex Global, is assigned an incident involving a server flagged as noncompliant with the patch baseline and missing several critical updates.

She logs into BMC Helix Innovation Studio and creates an automation run, providing the required inputs. When the Automation Run record is saved, Patch Orchestrator automatically triggers the workflow, successfully executing an end-to-end workflow, from pre-patch validation through completion and notifications.

By using the Patch Orchestrator, Susan successfully resolves the incident through seamless collaboration between human and AI.
