Creating and managing versions of agent instructions

Versioning for agent instructions enables you to create, update, compare, and manage multiple versions of instructions for an agent. Each time you add a new version, the system assigns a version number and sets it as the active version.

Versioning helps you maintain a history of changes, reuse previous configurations, and revert to earlier versions when needed.

To add a version of agent instructions

1. Log in to BMC Helix Innovation Studio and navigate to the Workspace tab. 
2. From the Application launcher, select HelixGPT Agent Studio.
3. On the Agents tab, select the agent for which you want to add a version.
4. Click the Instructions tab, click the Actions list next to an instruction version, and click Add version.
   
    
5. On the Instructions page, a new version for the instructions is created.
6. Click Save and next.
7. (Optional) Add tools for the newly created version.
8. Click Save.

To activate a version

1. Log in to BMC Helix Innovation Studio and navigate to the Workspace tab. 

2. From the Application launcher, select HelixGPT Agent Studio.
3. On the Agents tab, select the agent for which you want to add version.
4. Click the Instructions tab.
5. Click the Actions list for the version that you want to activate.
6. Click Activate.
   

To edit version instructions

1. Log in to BMC Helix Innovation Studio and navigate to the Workspace tab. 
2. From the Application launcher, select HelixGPT Agent Studio.
3. On the Agents tab, select the agent for which you want to add a version.
4. Click the Instructions tab, click the Actions list next to an instruction version, and click Edit. 
   
5. On the Instructions page, you can perform the following tasks:
   • Click Add version to add a new version for instructions.
   • Click Insert variables to add predefined variables to make the instructions dynamic.
   • Click Generate with HelixGPT to improve prompt instruction.
     • Click Replace to replace the existing prompt instructions with the BMC HelixGPT-genearted prompt instructions.
     • Click Add to instructions to add the  BMC HelixGPT-genearted prompt instructions to the existing instructions.
   • Click Evaluate to evaluate the instructions against security, alignment, and completeness.
   • Click See versions toggle key to enable the version comparison view.
   • Click Check difference toggle key to enable the color-coded text for content addition and deletion.
6. Click Save and next.
7. (Optional) Add tools for the newly created version.
8. Click Save.

To delete a version

1. Log in to BMC Helix Innovation Studio and navigate to the Workspace tab. 

2. From the Application launcher, select HelixGPT Agent Studio.
3. On the Agents tab, select the agent for which you want to add a version.
4. Click the Instructions tab, click the Actions list next to an instruction version, and click Delete.

   The specified version is deleted.
