Performing actions on a PATROL Agent

Use the Managed Devices page on the TrueSight console to access a PATROL Agent and perform actions on it.
You can perform the following actions on a PATROL Agent:
- To access a PATROL Agent
- To deploy and install packages or uninstall monitoring solutions from a PATROL Agent
- To synchronize monitor instances with a PATROL Agent
- To run a query on the PATROL Agent
- To manage PATROL Agents through policies
- To view configuration history for a PATROL Agent

To access a PATROL Agent
- In the navigation pane of the TrueSight console, click Configuration and select Managed Devices. In the Managed Devices table, the PATROL Agents are displayed under the associated Integration Services that are displayed under the corresponding Infrastructure Management Servers.
- For the PATROL Agent that you want to access, click + against the associated Infrastructure Management server and the Integration Service to expand them. The PATROL Agent is displayed.
To deploy and install packages or uninstall monitoring solutions from a PATROL Agent
- Access the PATROL Agent that you want to deploy and install packages to, or uninstall monitoring solutions from.
- Click the PATROL Agent action menu and select Deploy and Install Packages or Uninstall Monitoring Solutions, depending on the action that you need to perform. For more information, see Deploying-packages-to-PATROL-Agents-using-the-TrueSight-console and Uninstalling-monitoring-solutions-from-PATROL-Agents.
To synchronize monitor instances with a PATROL Agent
- Access the PATROL Agent that you want to synchronize.
Click the PATROL Agent action menu and select Synchronize Monitor Instance Information.
This action triggers the PATROL Agent to resend all the instances that the Agent monitors to Infrastructure Management.
To run a query on the PATROL Agent
You can run the PSL commands on PATROL Agents by using the Agent Query Tool and view the results in the tool.
- Access the PATROL Agent that you want to view configuration history for.
- Click the PATROL Agent action menu and select Query PATROL Agent. The Agent Query Tool opens in a new browser window.
- In the Command box, specify the query:
- To manually enter a PSL command, type the command in the Command box and press Enter, or click Execute.
For example, %DUMP ALL. The results are displayed. To select a query from a commonly-used PSL command list, click .... In the Select Command dialog box, select a command and click Apply.
- To manually enter a PSL command, type the command in the Command box and press Enter, or click Execute.
- Click Execute. The command and its result are displayed.
To manage PATROL Agents through policies
- Access the PATROL Agent.
Click the PATROL Agent action menu and select Use Policy Management. Policy updates are now applied to the selected PATROL Agent.
- If you want to modify the policy management on multiple PATROL Agents:
- Press CTRL and select the PATROL Agents one by one.
- From the Common action menu, select Use Policy Management or Remove Policy Management, depending on the action to be performed.
To view configuration history for a PATROL Agent
- Access the PATROL Agent that you want to view configuration history for.
- Click the PATROL Agent action menu and select Show History for Applied Configurations.The table provides the following information:

Policies Considered | Policies that were applied on the PATROL Agent |
Status | Status of the applied policies |
Configuration Sent | Details of the configuration that are applied on the PATROL Agent |
