23.1.01
Advance notice: Log collection features to be discontinued from BMC Helix Developer Tools
From 23.1.02, log integrations to collect logs from Files, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Kubernetes will be discontinued. In addition, the Linux and Windows connectors will also be discontinued.
Use BMC Helix Log Analytics collection policies (Collection > Collection policies) to collect logs. For more information, see Collecting-application-logs-by-using-collection-policies.
Windows connector for collection policies
To collect logs from Microsoft Windows based applications, use the Windows connector in collection policies.
For more information, see Installing-and-managing-Windows-connector.
Collect AWS logs by using collection policies
Use collection policies to collect logs from Amazon Web Services (AWS). You can use both the Windows and Linux connectors for data collection. Collection policies provide centralized connector management and collection configurations.
For more information, see Creating-collection-policies-to-collect-logs-from-AWS.
Search supports special characters
On the Explorer tab, when you search for a keyword that contains a special character, the exact keyword is searched in the logs.
The following table provides the comparison between old and new search behavior:
Search keyword | New search behavior | Old search behavior |
---|---|---|
loc-pun | Search results that contain loc-pun are returned. | Search results that contained either of the words loc or pun were returned. |
23.1.00
Collect logs by using connectors and collection policies
You can collect logs by using connectors and collection policies.
Connectors are used to collect logs. Collection policies help you to configure the connector, define parsing and filtering rules, and other configurations to collect the application logs.
You can manage all your connectors and their health centrally from the Connectors page. You can create, edit, and clone a connector. Collection policies provide centralized connector management and collection configurations.
In this release, you can use collection policies to collect logs from Linux-based applications only.
For more information, see Collecting-application-logs-by-using-collection-policies.
View log volume in the out-of-the-box dashboards
Log collection statistics are reported in log volume (in KB, MB, or GB) rather than log count in the Kubernetes and Self Monitoring dashboards.
For more information, see Visualizing-logs.
Archive and restore logs on OCI tenants
Administrators can archive logs on tenants deployed on the OCI platform.
For more information, see Archiving-and-restoring-logs.
