Product content TKU 2025-Apr-1

Technology Knowledge Update TKU 2025-Apr-1 contains additional product content for the 22.2, 23.1, 23.3, 24.1, 24.2, and 24.3 versions of BMC Discovery.

Product content updates require appliance restart

This TKU release contains product content additions. The appliance is restarted when product content is added to the update. You can prevent the restart, but none of the knowledge content will be installed if you do so.

The following features and enhancements are introduced within the scope of this release: 

  • HEADS-UP: In this release, we are changing the default CTI values for BMC_Cluster as follows:

    • Category="Cluster"
    • Type="Cluster"
    • Item=<cluster.type>

    instead of "Unknown" as previously defined. Note that you can still go back to the previous values by updating the pattern configuration CMDB.SyncConfig module accordingly. For more details, see the documentationhere and (DRDC1-25982).​

  • HEADS-UP: The "Allocated Capacity" attribute of Storage System nodes is now deprecated. Instead, a new attribute, Total Logical Consumed Capacity, is added for the Dell EMC PowerMax and Dell EMC SC Series patterns. It is identical to the "Allocated Capacity" attribute. Also, added the "Total Logical Consumed Capacity" attribute to the IBM FlashSystem pattern.
  • CLOUD: Added new cloud regions (DRDC1-26047):
    • ALIBABA: Mexico (na-south-1). For more details, see the documentation here.
    • AZURE: Hyderabad, Indonesia (indonesiacentral). For more details, see the documentation here.
    • GCP: Stockholm, Sweden (europe-north2). For more details, see the documentation here.
  • CLOUD: Added the __resource_unit attribute to the following patterns (DRDC1-25919):
  • CLOUD/AWS: Deprecated the _resource_unit attribute for Amazon Elastic Container Service. For more details, see (DRDC1-25919).
  • CLOUD/AWS: Optimized the AWS scan to boost performance. For more details, see (DRDC1-24407).
  • CLOUD/AWS: Replaced the CloudResource node type with StorageVolume for Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3). For more details, see the documentation here and (DRDC1-25145).
  • CLOUD/MONGO DB ATLAS: Added the TLS Certificate Check option for the provider. For more details, see the documentationhere and (DRDC1-25174).
  • CMDB SYNC: Cloud HardwareContainer is now mapped to CloudService. For more details, see (DRDC1-25502).
  • CMDB SYNC: NetworkDevice collection of other Devices is now mapped to Dependency, NetworkDevice management of AdminCollections is now mapped to Dependency. For more details, see (DRDC1-25288).
  • STORAGE: Added support for the discovery of Scality Ring. For more details, see the documentation here and (DRDC1-19700).
  • STORAGE/Brocade SANSwitch: Updated the pattern to discover an appropriate model value. For more details, see (DRDC1-25875).
  • STORAGE/Dell EMC PowerVault (REST): Updated the pattern to properly discover the IP Address and Network Interface node information of the storage system. For more details, see the documentation here and (DRDC1-26013).
  • STORAGE/Hitachi REST: Updated StoragePool's capacity, improved the storage system/storage device vendor when the model is XP7 or XP8, and optimized the pattern to prevent the appearance of .pq files. For more details, see the documentation here and (DRDC1-25877). 
  • STORAGE/Oracle ZFS NAS: Resolved an issue with the empty disk type. For more details, see (DRDC1-25858).
  • STORAGE/Oracle ZFS NAS: Updated the Serial Number in the pattern. For more details, see the documentation here and (DRDC1-25781).
  • STORAGE: Deprecated the allocated_capacity attribute for the following patterns (DRDC1-25941):

Defects

The following defects are fixed within the scope of this release: 

  • CLOUD/AZURE: Resolved an issue related to Microsoft Azure VMware VM erroneously detected as Cloud Hosted. For more details, see (DRDC1-25761). 
  • CLOUD/OCI: Resolved an issue related to a company name not synced for discovered load balancers. For more details, see (DRDC1-26030).
  • CLOUD/OCI: Resolved an issue with invalid record/pool filenames on Windows during automatic Kubernetes scanning. For more details, see (DRDC1-25711).
  • STORAGE: Fixed an ECA error that occurred when setting the disk drive speed. For more details, see (DRDC1-25923).
  • STORAGE/Brocade SAN Switches via SANnav: Resolved an issue with versioning when looking for ContainerImage nodes. For more details, see (DRDC1-25803).
  • STORAGE/IBM StorWize: Resolved an issue with an incorrect serial number by setting the enclosure serial value instead of WBEM ID. For more details, see (DRDC1-25939).
  • STORAGE/NetApp (SNMP): Resolved an issue with a duplicated NetApp cluster that occurred due to looking for the Storage Device created by using the NetApp REST API pattern. For more details, see (DRDC1-26041).

Changes to discovery commands

Discovery commands are unchanged in Product Content 2025-Apr-1.

Model changes

Taxonomy is updated for the following: 

TAXONOMY: Created a relationship between Cisco Network Device and Management Controller. For more details, see (DRDC1-25905). 
TAXONOMY: Storage Volume node: The block_size and consumable_blocks attributes are no longer expected. For more details, see (DRDC1-25145).
