Uploading custom templates in the Savvis Provider
You can onboard customized virtual machine (VM) templates in the SavvisStation Portal. The uploaded templates are displayed in BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management for the Savvis Provider, based on how you have configured the synchronization interval.
Before you begin
In the SavvisStation Portal, log on with Administrator user credentials.
To create a template from an existing VM
Use this procedure to create a custom template by using the existing VM on the Savvis Provider.
- Log on to BMC Atrium Orchestrator Grid Manager.
- Click the Manage tab, and then click the Modules tab.
- Click the Savvis_Integration module.
The configuration view of the module is displayed, where the items can be edited. - Click the Configuration icon.
- On the Edit Module Configuration page, click and enter the details for the Savvis_Capture_VM_Template_Creation_Details configuration item.
- Click the Manage tab, and then click the Schedules tab.
- Click Add.
The Add a Runtime Schedule Configuration page is displayed.
- Enter the mandatory details:
- Name — Type the name of the scheduler used for template creation.
- Process ID — Click Select and select the name of the process which creates the template. It should be Create Template from Virtual Machine only.

- Job schedule start — You can set to Start immediately or at <a later time>.
- Stop — You must select as After 1 Run.
Click OK.
A message indicates that the scheduler was created.

To upload a new custom VM template
Use this procedure to upload an Open Virtualization Format (OVF) file and a Virtual Machine Disk (VMDK) file as a template in SavvisStation Portal.
- Log on to the SavvisStation Portal.
- In the SavvisStation home page header row, click the Symphony VPDC tab.
- In the Tasks section, click
. - In the Upload New Image dialog box, select Biling Site/Department and Location.
- Click Continue.
An icon.jnlp file is downloaded. - Double-click the downloaded .jnlp file.
The New Package (Image Upload) dialog box is displayed.
- Click Add.
- Browse and select the OVF and VMDK file to upload as a template and click Send.
A custom image is created in the Savvis Provider. - Click the Image Library icon to view the created custom image.
