Using analysis templates

If you want to exercise more control over your analysis charts, you can use the Mainframe Systems analysis templates.

Note

For more information, see Analyzing domain data Open link in the TrueSight Capacity Optimization documentation.

  1. From the TrueSight Capacity Optimization console, navigate to Workspace.
  2. In the Navigation pane, click on the Works folder for the domain where you want to put your analysis.

If you do not have a Works folder in that domain, click the domain name and click Add Works > Add Analysis in the work area.

The TrueSight Capacity Optimization Wizard is displayed.

  3. Click Next and complete the analysis wizard as follows:
    1. On the Entity Filter page, select All systems/business drivers in container domain and its subdomains.

    2. On the Analysis Type page, select either Performance vs. Time or Load vs. Time analysis.

    3. On the Template page, select Mainframe Systems from the Template group list.

Each Mainframe Systems template enables you to create charts with one or more metrics for one or more objects of the same type.

    4. On the Name page, select Edit the analysis using the advanced analysis editor.

      Warning

Do not try to exercise analysis directly. Doing so will create a chart with all objects and all metrics for this object type. Such a chart will take a significant amount of resources to produce and will be completely unusable.

  4. Click Next to display the Summary dialog.
  5. On the Summary dialog, click Finish to create the new analysis and start the Analysis Editor.
  6. On the General tab, change the name and description if you do not want to use the default name and description.
  7. On the Entity, metric and subresource filters, specify the following information:
    • System type filter
    • Metric/Formula filter
    • System filter
    • System subresource filter, if available

  8. Click Save.
The template executes the analysis and draws a graph of the selected metric.  The analysis is saved in the Works folder.
