Performing common preconfiguration tasks

As an administrator, you must perform the common preconfiguration tasks that are valid for all the integration technologies that BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Broker supports.

By enabling the providers, you make sure that BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Broker communicates with BMC Helix ITSM and BMC Helix Digital Workplace, and share the data for an integration.

Configure the third-party application data in BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Broker

By configuring the third-party application data, you make sure that BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Broker gets the required data for field mappings and service association across applications.

Configure the third-party application data


To configure the BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Broker provider in BMC Helix ITSM: Smart IT

  1. Log in to Smart IT as an administrator.
  2. Click Configuration and select Admin Console Configuration.
  3. Click and select Configuration.
  4. In the Providers table, ensure that the Multi-Cloud Management pluggable provider is selected.
  5. Click Multi-Cloud Management pluggable provider to update the BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Broker provider settings:

To configure the BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Broker provider in BMC Helix Digital Workplace

  1. Navigate to the BMC Helix Digital Workplace Admin Console and log in as an administrator.
  2. Click Configuration and select Multi-Cloud Management pluggable provider from the Providers table.
  3. Ensure that the check box for Multi-Cloud Management pluggable provider is selected.
  4. Update BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Broker provider settings:
    • Enter the BMC Helix Innovation Suite server details provided to you by BMC.
    • Enter the user name and the password of your tenant administrator account.
    • Save the BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Broker provider settings and click Reload providers.
      If you are a Remedy OnDemand user and if you have changed your password, you only need to update the Password field.

To configure the third-party application data

You must configure the details of a third-party application in BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Broker so that it can get the required data for field mappings and service association. You add the third-party application organization in BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Broker and then add its details.

To add, view, or update a vendor or primary organization (third-party application)


Important

Based on the Foundation data updates in BMC Helix Innovation Suite version 18.11, Vendor Organization is no longer a separate entity. Vendor organizations are now defined as a Primary Organization of type Vendor.

To add an organization, perform the following steps:

  1. Log in to BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Broker.
  2. Click Settings .
  3. Select Manage Primary Org > Manage Primary Org.
  4. On the Manage Primary Organizations page, click Add/Update.
    The link opens Mid Tier.
  5. Log in to Mid Tier.
  6. To complete the fields to add or update an organization, see Creating companies Open link .

To add the vendor (third-party application) metadata

  1. Log in to BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Broker.
  2. Click Settings .
  3. Select Configure Vendors > Manage Vendor Metadata.
  4. On the Map Vendors page, click .
  5. Complete the fields as described in the following table:

    Ticketing Technology Provider

    From the list, select the provider for which you are adding the metadata.

    (Optional) Instance NameEnter the name of the third-party application instance that you are using.
    Add Mapping

    After you select the ticketing technology provider, click Add Mapping. BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Broker displays the default values in the Instance URL field and the Display Field Mapping section.

    InstanceURL

    If you have clicked Add Mapping, this field is auto-populated. 

    If required, update the URL.

    Vendor Field MappingDo not change the default mappings.
    Display Field Mapping

    By default, the basic third-party application fields are mapped in this section. If you want to map additional fields to be displayed in the BMC Helix ITSM UI, add the relevant mappings by clicking .

    Enable Local ITSM Communication

    By default, this toggle key is enabled. 

    If you want to use BMC Helix Integration Service as the underlying integration platform, disable this toggle key.

    Resolve Incident Ticket When Vendor Closes It

    By default, this toggle key is enabled so that when a third-party application ticket is closed, the corresponding BMC Helix ITSM ticket is also closed. You can disable the toggle key, if required.

    • Integration Service
