Resolution

To resolve this issue, review the FootPrints version 11.0 address book fields with field headers. Based on your analysis, you may use the Help Text field property or the HTML/Code form control to accomplish the functionality the field headers provided.

Consider the following points to determine best solution:

  • Help Text is an attribute of a specific field. Use the Help Text field, if the text is intended as help or instructions related to any field.
  • Since it is not bound to a field, you can place the text anywhere on a form by using the HTML/Code form control. Use it to place a header on the row above a group of related fields or to provide instructions for a group of fields. Field headers in FootPrints version 11.0 are used to for the same purpose, but they are bound to a specific field.

  • Form controls in FootPrints version 12.0 do not have permissions and will be seen by all users of that form. You can control the visibility by not placing it on a form for a particular role type.
For example, based on your requirement, place it on the Agent Web form but not the Customer Web form.

The following steps help you to configure field headers in FootPrints version 12.0.

Adding Help Text for a field

  1. Navigate to Administration > Address Books > (address book) > Contacts > (contact) > Fields to edit the field that requires help text.
  2. Define a value for the Help Text property.

  3. Save your changes and publish the address book.

Adding an HTML/Code form control

  1. Navigate to Administration > Address Books > (address book)Contacts > (contact)Forms and edit the required form.
  2. From the Form Controls section, drag and place the HTML/Code control onto your form.
  3. Select the Width and Content type (HTML or JavaScript), and enter text into the Code setting.

  4. Save your changes and publish the address book.
  5. After completing modifications, create a contact in your address book to verify that the changes in your form are displayed to the user as intended.
