BMC Service Resolution 3.0.01 supports BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management 10.0.00 and later on Microsoft Windows only. You need to install Patch 1 for Service Pack 1: 3.0.01.001 to get this support.

Installing the service pack

To install the service pack, you must apply the service pack on constituent products: BMC ProactiveNet/BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management and BMC Remedy IT Service Management (ITSM).

Applying service pack for BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management

Before you begin

  • Ensure that you have installed the latest hotfix on BMC ProactiveNet/BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management. Latest hotfixes are available for both 9.5 Service Pack 1 and 9.6 versions.
  • Ensure that IBRSD_HOME variable is set.

To apply the service pack for BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management

  1. Download the installation file.
  2. On the BMC ProactiveNet/BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management server, unzip the installer file:

    (Windows)
    BPPM_BSR_3.0.01_Installer_For_9.5_9.6_Windows.zip available in the BMC_Service_Resolution_3.0.01_Windows folder.

    (Linux)
    BPPM_BSR_3.0.01_Installer_For_9.5_9.6_Linux.tar available in the BMC_Service_Resolution_3.0.01_Linux folder.
  3. Navigate to the Disk1 folder.
  4. Start the installer.
    (Windows) Run setup.exe.
    (Linux)
    Run the chmod -R 755 * command
    Run setup.bin
  5. In the lower-right corner of the Welcome panel, click Next.
  6. On the Installation Preview panel, review the details, and then click Install.
  7. After the installation is complete, in the Installation Summary screen, click View Log to review any SEVERE errors or warnings in the log. The installation log is available in the %TEMP% folder on your computer.
  8. Close the log file.

  9. To exit the installer, click Done.

Verifying the installation

  1. At the command prompt, run the following command:
    pw viewhistory 
  2. Verify that the installed version is 3.0.01.

Applying service pack for BMC Remedy ITSM

  1. Download the installation file.
  2. On the BMC Remedy ITSM server, unzip the installer file:

    (Windows)
    ITSM_BSR_3.0.01_Installer_Windows.zip file available in the BMC_Service_Resolution_3.0.01_Windows.zip folder.

    (Linux)
    ITSM_BSR_3.0.01_Installer_Linux.tar file available in the BMC_Service_Resolution_3.0.01_Linux folder.
  3. Navigate to the Disk1 folder.
  4. Start the installer.
    (Windows) Run setup.exe.
    (Linux)
    Run the chmod -R 755 * command
    Run setup.bin
  5. In the lower-right corner of the Welcome panel, click Next.
  6. On the Installation Preview panel, review the details, and then click Install.
  7. After the installation is complete, in the Installation Summary screen, click View Log to review any SEVERE errors or warnings in the log. The installation log is available in the %TEMP% folder on your computer.
  8. Close the log file.

  9. To exit the installer, click Done.

Note

After installation, verify that the BiiARS_HPD:OutBoundStagingForm_INCIDENTINFO`! filter is disabled on both the base version and overlay (if you have made customizations to this filter). In BMC Service Resolution 3.0.01, this filter functionality is replaced with the web services polling mechanism. For more information, see Enhancements in Service Pack1.

Verifying the installation

Verify that BMC Service Resolution is registered in the SHARE:Application_Properties form.

Postinstallation tasks

  • If you are installing BMC Service Resolution on a 9.0 version of BMC Remedy AR System, add a new environment variable called ARDATE in the AR System server with the following value:
    ARDATE    MM/dd/yyyy HH:mm:ssZ
