Extended support for global variables
While filtering events, use global variables in the event selection criteria. You can also use global variables in event enrichment and notification policies for processing events.
For more information, see the following topics:
Event policy migration between tenants
Migrate event policies by exporting them from one BMC Helix Operations Management tenant and importing them into another.
For more information, see Migrating event policies between tenants.
Entity enrichment according to the best matching slot
Entity details from BMC Discovery are enriched in an event. The best matching entity details such as _node_id
and _service_id
from BMC Discovery are enriched. This avoids multiple nodes getting associated with an event.
To learn how the best match is determined, see Event enrichment for adding context.
Node details identified by using the service name
The _service_name
details from BMC Discovery are enriched in the event. Use these details to quickly identify nodes and services that are associated with an event.
For more information, see Event policy types and evaluation order.
Notification policy triggered on change in slot value
When the slot value in an event changes from null or empty to a non-empty value because an event policy is executed, the notification policy creates an incident for an event.
For more information, see Event-based notifications for alerting users.
New event classes under the IIMonitorEvent class for all integrations
Starting from this version, the StreamWeaver class is no longer supported. For all the supported sources, a subclass is created under the IIMonitorEvent class in BMC Helix Operations Management.
In this version, when you configure integrations with the following sources, subclasses are created as listed in the following table:
Source | Subclasses |
---|---|
AppDynamics | AppDynamicsEvent |
Aternity | AternityAlert |
Microsoft SCOM | ScomEvent |
New Relic | NewRelicEvent |
Prometheus | PrometheusAlert |
For information about classes and their hierarchy, see Event classification and formatting.
For information about the sources supported by BMC Helix Intelligent Integrations, see
Supported out-of-the-box integrations for BMC Helix Intelligent Integrations

Enhancements to services and service details
A number of enhancements are provided to improve your experience with viewing services and service details. For more information, see Performing probable cause analysis.
Entities renamed to Services
The Entities tab is renamed to Services. All the related functionalities remain unchanged.
CI impact path displayed in dotted red line
In the CI Topology tab of the service details view, the CI impact path between the impacted nodes is marked with dotted red lines, and the non-impacted nodes is marked with grey lines.
View upstream and downstream impact paths
In the Service Hierarchy tab of the service details view, you have the options to view the upstream (parent nodes) and downstream (child nodes) impact paths of the current service.
Automatic tagging and grouping of advanced filter criteria
If you add multiple filters in the Advanced filter box in the CI Topology and Service Hierarchy tabs, based on the length and number of filters and the space available to display, the filters are automatically grouped and tagged as +1 active, +2 active, and so on. You can click the tag to view the grouped filters.
Enhancements to Situations
A number of enhancements are provided to improve your experience with situations. For more information, see Monitoring policy-based situations.
Create an incident from the Action menu
The Create Incident action is available from the Action menu that is part of the list view.
Filter by status
Filter situations based on their status. By default, only open situations are displayed.
Customize the Situations list view
Choose the columns to be displayed on the Situations page. You can also drag and drop columns to rearrange the Situations page according to your requirement. This can be done only in the list view.
Sort columns
Sorting is available on the Occurred, Severity, Priority, and Status columns.
The following MP4 shows all of the enhancements.
View incident details in BMC Helix ITSM
Click the incident ID created against a node for an impacted service or situation to launch the incident details in BMC Helix IT Service Management.
For more information, see Performing probable cause analysis for services and Monitoring policy-based situations for situations.
22.2.00
The following video (3:38) provides a high-level summary of the new features and enhancements in version 22.2 of BMC Helix Operations Management.
Select dynamic monitor types while configuring alarm policies
While configuring alarm policies, on the Metric Selection page, select metrics for dynamic monitor types.
For more information, see Configuring alarm policies.
Share information between enrichment policies with global variables
Create, update, delete, and get a custom list of values for global variables by using REST APIs. Use these global variables for sharing data between enrichment policies and processing events.
For more information, see the following topics:
Handle event slot values with custom enumerations
Create, update, delete, and get a custom list of values for the Enum data type event slots by using REST APIs. Use these custom enumerations for processing events by using event enrichment policies.
For more information, see the following topics:
Enrich events with node details
Look up node details such as node IP address, source, and location from BMC Discovery by using the LookupNodeDetails
function. Use these details to enrich event slots by using event enrichment policies.
For more information, see the following topics:
View variable categorization in advanced enrichment policies
In the Variable action settings on the advanced enrichment policy workflow, view variables according to the following categories:
- Local Variables
- Global Variables
For more information, see Actions for advanced and time-based enrichment.
Maximum row limit and size for an external source file in dynamic enrichment policies
For dynamic enrichment policies, the maximum row limit in an external source file is increased from 1000 to 10000 rows. The file can be up to 4 MB.
For more information, see Defining an external source file for dynamically enriching events.
New event classes for integrations configured by using BMC Helix Intelligent Integrations
When you use BMC Helix Intelligent Integrations for the first time to configure an integration with a third-party source, the IIMonitorEvent class is created and a new subclass is created under this class for that source. When you configure an integration with any other source later, a subclass is created for that source. A subclass is created for all the sources except for the following sources:
- AppDynamics
- Aternity
- Microsoft SCOM
- New Relic
A single streamweaver class is available out of the box for these sources. For information about classes, see Event classification and formatting.
For information about the sources supported by BMC Helix Intelligent Integrations, see
Supported out-of-the-box integrations for BMC Helix Intelligent Integrations
.
View situations as a list
In the BMC Helix AIOps console, view situations in a list in addition to tiles. Use the list view to see the situation details and perform event operations from the Action menu without drilling down to an individual situation.
For more information, see Monitoring policy-based situations.
Perform event actions for impacted services and situations
In the BMC Helix AIOps console, you can perform a set of actions for any open event. These event actions are available for impacted services and associated situations.
For more information, see Performing probable cause analysis and Investigating policy-based situations.
Launch event details
From the BMC Helix AIOps console, launch and view the Event Details page in BMC Helix Operations Management for each event that is associated with services and situations in BMC Helix AIOps.
For more information, see Performing probable cause analysis.
Service model UI enhancements
In the BMC Helix AIOps console, the following enhancements are available for the service and service details pages:
- Create or edit service UI enhancements
- The > Create Service menu option. button has replaced the click
- When you create or edit a service model, you can flip the direction of a node.
For more information, see Modeling services.
- View services and service details UI enhancements
- In the Entities > Services page, the Heatmap view is the new default view.
- On the service details page CI Topology and Service Hierarchy tabs, you can do the following actions:
- Enter or exit the full-screen mode when viewing the topology data.
- View the service nodes displayed with the node impact severity colors.
For more information, see Performing probable cause analysis.
Service blueprints UI enhancement
In the BMC Helix AIOps console, the field name Namespace is changed to Provider in the create, edit, or view blueprints views.
For more information, see Modeling service blueprints.
