System requirements for Presentation Server
Before installing the TrueSight Presentation Server, review the following requirements:
Hardware requirements
After you determine the size of your environment, consult the following table for recommended hardware.
Notes
The recommended hardware requirements apply to both physical or virtual machines.
Parallel CPUs usually improve user response time better than a single CPU with a higher clock speed.
Environment | Configuration Item | Platform and size |
---|---|---|
POC or Demo | Platform |
|
RAM | 8 GB | |
Storage configuration | 200 GB | |
Medium | Platform |
|
RAM | 24 GB | |
Storage configuration | 300 GB 15,000 RPM drive or a tier 1 SAN storage | |
Large | Platform |
|
RAM | 32 GB | |
Storage configuration | 500 GB 15,000 RPM drive or a tier 1 SAN storage | |
Note: If you frequently experience high memory utilization in your environment, increase the RAM to 32 GB (Medium) and 48 GB (Large). |

Notes
- BMC products are certified for use on supported operating system versions. BMC does not explicitly test for OS patches/updates that are released after a BMC product is released.
- BMC products should work fine with minor updates to these supported operating systems. For assistance, contact BMC Customer Support.
Red Hat subscription
The product requires some additional libraries to be present on the system (see list below).
The preferred method to add any missing libraries is to use the yum command to fetch the necessary library packages from the RHN (Red Hat Network) repository via the Internet. To use this method, a Red Hat subscription is needed. Register the system by clicking System > Administration > Red Hat Subscription Manager in the menu on the server itself. After registering the system, you can use yum install
to download and install the required libraries from the RHN.
X Windows
If you are installing the Presentation Server using the graphical user interface, you must install X Windows.
On the Red Hat Enterprise Linux terminal, type yum grouplist
and check that X Window System is listed. If not, then run yum groupinstall 'X Window System'
to install the necessary packages.
Required libraries
Ensure that the following libraries are present to install the Presentation Server. To install the libraries, use the following commands.
Library | Command to install the library on RHEL | Command to install the library on SUSE |
---|---|---|
libXtst (32-bit) libXtst (64-bit) |
| N/A |
glibc (32-bit) glibc (64-bit) |
|
|
libstdc++ (32-bit) libstdc++ (64-bit) |

Note
On a Linux setup, ensure that glibc-2.12.x86_64
(or later versions) is installed on the computer where you plan to install Presentation Server.
Authentication requirements
Remedy Single Sign-On is the authentication tool that must be installed and configured with the Presentation Server. The following versions are supported:
TrueSight Presentation Serverversion | 11.0.00 |
---|---|
Remedy Single Sign-On version | 9.1.03.001 and later. |
1 - You can use the instructions in this document to download, install, upgrade, or configure only Remedy SSO 9.1.03.001 version.
2 - If you want to download, install, upgrade, or configure a 9.1.04 version, go to Remedy Single Sign-On 9.1.04 EPD page and perform the installation instructions given in Remedy Single Sign-On 9.1.04.
3 - If you want to upgrade and configure one of the supported higher version of Remedy SSO, see Remedy Single Sign-On 18.02. , Remedy Single Sign-On 18.05. , or Remedy Single Sign-On 18.08. .
Note: If you have Remedy Single Sign-On installed, you must check and apply the relevant patches for a seamless integration with the TrueSight Presentation Server. Before proceeding with the patch installation, stop the TrueSight Presentation Server and back up Remedy Single Sign-On.
Cloud support
BMC will help resolve any issues that you might encounter while using TrueSight products. However, BMC assumes no responsibility for infrastructure issues caused by third-party or "cloud" environments. If you install TrueSight products in a third-party or "cloud" environment, the systems provisioned for use must meet the requirements specified for the installed TrueSight products.
Additionally, the use of cloud-specific services, such as horizontal scaling, fail-over, disaster recovery, stateless architecture, databases, and so on, are not supported.
Comments
I can not see RHEL 7.4 over here , we already have the 10.7 running on RHEL 7.4. Please confirm.
Hello Avneesh,
We do not support RHEL 7.4 at this point of time. We will update the documentation if we add the support for RHEL 7.4 in release 11.0. We do not support RHEL 7.4 for release 10.7 also.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks and regards, Mukta
