Configuring a data source

As an administrator, you can leverage data outside BMC Helix Innovation Studio. To leverage external data, you must first configure the data source by specifying the connection and authentication details. BMC Helix Innovation Studio supports two external data source types— AR System serverand Web API data source. The AR Systemdata source type supports the following authentication types:

  • BMC Helix Single Sign-OnBMC Helix Single Sign-Onshould be the same for BMC Helix Innovation Studio and external AR System server, and users should be synced in BMC Helix Innovation Studio from external AR System server.
  • Application Service Password of external AR System serverAR System serverusers should be synced in BMC Helix Innovation Studio.

To configure a new data source

  1. Log in to BMC Helix Innovation Studio and navigate to the Administration tab.
  2. Select Integrations > Data sources > Data source connections.
  3. On the Data source connections page, click New.
The Add new data source configuration dialog is displayed.
  4. On the General tab, complete the following fields:
    1. Name—Enter an appropriate name for the data source connection, for example, ARS01.

      Important

To avoid errors, do not use the following names for the connector:

      • AR System
      • ARDBC.PREVIEW
      • ARSYS.ARDBC.CONFIGFILE
      • REMEDY
