Default mandatory fields


This topic provides a list of common out-of-the-box fields that are mandatory in Smart IT, but are not necessarily mandatory in the Mid Tier interface. The list is not exhaustive, and your environment might contain configurations that cause your fields and their properties to differ from the information shown. This information is required while adding fields to your views and configuring screens in classic Smart IT.

Important

  • Some fields are mandatory in both Mid Tier and Smart IT .
  • Smart IT displays a field as mandatory if it is required in Mid Tier, or if you have created an overlay of the field and made its entry mode as Required.
  • Smart IT does not support fields that are made mandatory by using active links.
  • Smart IT  does not support changes in the selection values for the Status field. Instead, you can use Status Reason to make configurations.
  • We recommend that you not make a field mandatory by marking it as Required, if the field is not mandatory under certain conditions. For example, the Scheduled Start Date and Scheduled End Date fields on change requests are not mandatory for Latent changes.
