Options for obtaining a Google Maps license

You must obtain a license from Google. Contact Google directly to arrange an API licensing option based on your expected usage. You can do any of the following tasks:

  • Generate your own license key on the Google Developer's Console.
From this console, you can also add more host URLs, as required.
  • Register with Google for either a production or a non-production license key.
You can use a non-production license key for testing, development, and training.
  • Use a cryptographic signing key to generate unique signatures for your web service requests.
For more information, see Digital signaturesin the Google documentation.

For information about obtaining a license, see Obtaining an API key in the Google documentation.

BMC Helix ITSM shares the same Google Maps API license. Register the server location (country) and host URL of both applications under the same account. Then, enable the license in the appropriate server configuration files.

To enable the Google Maps license

  1. Obtain a license key as explained in the Options for obtaining a Google Maps license section.
The license key is also referred to as a Client ID.
  2. In Mid Tier, open the AR System Administration Console, and click System > General > Centralized Configuration.
  3. In the AR System Configuration Generic UI form, from the Component Name list, select com.bmc.arsys.smartit and then *.
