Configuring asynchronous impact analysis for change requests

When working on a change request, a user can use the Impact Analysis feature to identify the potential impact of the change on other services and CIs. The user can use the impact analysis results to mitigate risks and make informed decisions before implementing the change.

When a user clicks Initiate Impact Analysis from a change request, the Impacted CIs dialog box showing the progress and results of the impact analysis is displayed immediately by default.

However, if your organization's CI data is large, the impact analysis for a change request might take a long time to complete. After starting the impact analysis, users might not want to wait long for the impact analysis to be completed. Instead, they might want to navigate to other screens to perform other tasks while the impact analysis runs.

In such a case, you can set the asynchronousImpactAnalysis CCS parameter to True. If you set the asynchronousImpactAnalysis CCS parameter to True, the Impacted CIs dialog box is not displayed immediately after a user clicks Initiate Impact AnalysisThe user can start the impact analysis and navigate to other screens to perform other tasks. The user can open the Impacted CIs dialog box from the change request screen later to view the status and results of the impact analysis.

If you set the asynchronousImpactAnalysis CCS parameter to False, and the impact analysis is taking a long time to complete, the user can still close the Impacted CIs dialog box and navigate back to it later to view the results.

Important

The asynchronousImpactAnalysis CCS parameter is applicable only for Progressive Web Application screens.

The columns in the Impacted CIs dialog box differ depending on the asynchronousImpactAnalysis CCS parameter setting.

The following screenshot is of the Impacted CIs dialog box when the asynchronousImpactAnalysis CCS parameter is set to True:
