Warning
Helix documentation is moving from docs.bmc.com to docs.helixops.ai

Key pages will redirect to the new domain on May 26, 2026. However, some legacy documentation links will not be redirected.

In-product help links might not work after migration as we transition and update them within the product.

Managing the common data model

The Common Data Model (CDM) of the BMC Helix CMDB unifies the representation of configuration data. It stores information about the most common configuration items, such as hardware, software, and services. The CDM provides a mechanism for linking CI information to provide a complete view of all elements of an IT environment and the manner in which these CIs affect each other.
