Troubleshooting locale-related issues in CMDB UI

The CMDB UI language depends on the browser locale settings and not the OS locale settings. Local preferences set at the AR System and user level do not determine the language of the CMDB UI except for error messages from REST APIs.

If you are not able to see UI text in the language set in the browser, you must perform the following checks:

  1. Reload the browser after selecting the locale:
    1. Open the browser's developer tools settings window.
    2. Open the network traffic console and reload the page.
  2. If you are seeing improperly displayed text, verify that a .json file corresponding to your locale is downloaded.
For example, for English, the file is locale-en.json and for French, the file is locale-fr.json.
Verify JSON file for the locale.png
  3. Check for any JavaScript errors on the browser console.
  4. If a specific UI text does not appear in a language that BMC CMDB supports, it might be because it is not translated.
In this case, reach out to BMC Support.
  5. If you set a browser language that is not supported by BMC CMDB, the UI text is shown in the English language by default.
In such cases, if you do not see English UI text, contact BMC Support and check whether the file locale-en.json is downloaded.
