Evaluation period for advanced features


Evaluate advanced features of BMC Helix Digital Workplace before subscribing to them. An evaluation period of 60 days is provided when an environment is provisioned for a new customer with the Basic version. During this period, explore all advanced features; see how each feature works and the benefits you can get with the advanced version of the product.

For Managed Service Providers (MSP), the trial period is set per tenant, so every tenant can have different Advanced features enabled for evaluation.

The following features are available for evaluation:

Activation of the evaluation period for advanced features

The evaluation period of 60 days begins automatically when your environment is provisioned and you will see the following banner in the Admin console:

Important

The banner is visible to administrators on every page of the Admin console. It is not displayed in the end user console. Click the X icon to close the banner for the current session; the banner is displayed again when you log in to a new session.

The evaluation period of 60 days applies to all advanced features, irrespective of whether you use one or more or all advanced features. The banner displays the number of advanced features currently used and the number of days remaining in the evaluation period. It continues showing these details until the period expires. If an advanced feature is disabled, the count is decreased by one.

Activation of the advanced features after evaluation expiration

Upon expiration of the 60-day evaluation period, the Advanced feature icon changes in color and appearance from blue image-2023-3-14_10-11-46.pngto yellow image-2023-3-14_10-11-46-1.png.  

After the expiry of the evaluation period, if you enable one more advanced feature, you get the following message:

Frequently asked questions

I need more time; how can I extend the evaluation period?

To extend the evaluation period beyond 60 days, contact your BMC Sales representative before the evaluation period expires. 

What happens if I dismiss the evaluation period banner from my administration console?

The banner reappears after you log out and log back in to the BMC Helix Digital Workplace administration console.

What happens after the evaluation period is over?

Upon the expiry of the evaluation period, the Advanced feature icon changes to image-2023-3-14_10-2-54.pngand the banner changes to a warning (yellow) color. Administrators can see how many Advanced features are enabled and how many days are over in the evaluation period.

Customers can use any previously enabled Advanced features. When a customer clicks any new Advanced feature, they receive the following reminder. Upon clicking Activate Advanced feature, the customer gives consent to enable the Advanced feature.

How do I upgrade my existing plan?

Contact your BMC Sales representative for more information. 

How do I return to my Basic plan?

Advanced features are marked by image-2023-3-14_10-11-46.pngduring the evaluation period and represented asimage-2023-3-14_10-11-46-1.pngafter the evaluation period.  BMC Helix Digital Workplace administrators can disable all the advanced features to return to the Basic plan.
