Creating search views

As an administrator, create search views in BMC Helix Digital Workplace Studio and use them as independent custom pages or link them in another studio page or intranet web pages of your organization. A search view is similar to a studio page that you configure exclusively to provide a modern, preconfigured search experience to your end users. You can perform duplicate or edit search views, and export or import them between environments.

You can link search views to provide a consistent search experience across multiple lines of business. The preconfigured search results provide answers to common queries generated from BMC HelixGPT or keyword search.

Examples of linking search views

You can link link a search view in another studio page or use them as an independent page, as shown in the following examples:

    View name

Provide a meaningful name for the search view.

    Keywords/prompt

Provide the default search text for the search view. The page always displays the results for this search text.

If you configure BMC HelixGPT, the search text is used as a prompt to generate answers from the configured BMC HelixGPTsources.

The keyword/prompt is not visible to end users.

    Notes

Provide more context for this search view or to differentiate between pages with the same name.

    Channels

Select one of the following options:

    • Chat and search—Select if you want to configure keyword search and BMC HelixGPT for the search view.
    • Chat—Select if you want to configure only BMC HelixGPT for the search view.
    • Search—Select if you want to configure only keyword search for the search view.

By default, all search sources are selected.

If a source is not selected, that source's tab does not appear on the search results page. You can add a filter for articles. Filters are defined only for articles in BMC Helix Knowledge Management by ComAround. You can add only one filter to a search bar. For the BMC Helix Knowledge Management by ComAround provider, you can select predefined filters.

If you want to use BMC HelixGPT filters, you must set them in the BMC HelixGPT manager. For more information, see Defining knowledge search settings

HelixGPT skill (If you selected Chat and Chat and search in the Channels options)

Select the default skill that you want to use for this search view.

Default view (If you selected Chat and search in the Channels options)
