Customizing the guest portal
As a guest administrator, customize the guest portal's appearance according to your business needs. You can apply branding, customize labels, create studio pages, configure help, and so on.
Before you begin
- Make sure you have MyIT Admin permissions as a guest administrator.
- Make sure that you have configured the service catalog. For more information about configuring the catalog, see Enabling-and-configuring-the-enhanced-catalog and Creating and managing the service catalog.
Setting up self service in the guest portal
You can set up the Contact IT button and configure the how-to articles containing troubleshooting tips, tutorials, and videos. Guest users can then access these How-To items through the Global search field from the Catalog page. Capabilities such as booking appointments using calendars and accessing profiles of the assets are not available in the guest portal.
To set up contact information
- Log in to the BMC Helix Digital Workplace guest Admin console as a guest administrator.
- Select Configuration > Application Features.
- Select or clear the checkbox next to the Contact IT button to enable or disable it.

If users encounter any issues, they can click the Contact IT button for further assistance.
For details about how to change the label, see Customizing the labels in BMC Helix Digital Workplace. - To create phone contacts, select Help Desk > Contact Options.
In the Contact Type, only the General Help option is available for the guest portal. - In the New Contact Phone Number section, enter a staff member's contact information and click Add Contact.
- Use the General Help Properties section to enter the URL of your company's Help page and the custom message to appear on the contact page.
Configuring How-To items
To set up self-help articles, configure links to the How-to items. For more information, see Setting up self-help resources.
For the guest portal, knowledge articles from BMC Helix Knowledge Management by ComAround and BMC Helix ITSM: Knowledge Management articles and BMC Helix Business Workflows knowledge articles are not supported. You can add links to the how-to articles for self help.
Customizing labels on the guest portal

For the guest portal, customization is restricted only to the following sections and labels:

Rebranding the guest portal
As a guest administrator, you can customize the look and feel of the portal by using the following settings:
- Framework options
- Logo and icons
- Colors
- Adjust status colors

Leveraging Studio to design the guest portal
As a guest administrator, you can create the necessary workplace pages in the BMC Helix Digital Workplace Studio for guest users. Only a limited set of page components is supported. The following interface displays the available components in the Studio for the guest administrator console:
- Catalog Banner
- Catalog Section
- Content Block
- Search Bar

Setting up navigation for the guest user interface
As a guest administrator, use the Navigation Manager to create the desired page navigation and to direct users to the relevant content. For more information, see Setting up navigation for your workplace.
You can manage navigation in the guest portal with the following capabilities:
- Specify the landing pages and page redirects for the guest users. For home page assignments or the post-request redirects, the Catalog page remains the default page for the guest users.
- Create search views that include only Catalog items and Links as the supported search components.
