Launching the MainView Explorer Viewer


Use the following procedures to launch the MainView Explorer Viewer, either as a stand-alone application that can be deployed locally or remotely, or as a Java application using Java Web Start.

To launch MainView Explorer Viewer as a stand-alone application

  1. Complete the download and extraction of the MainView Explorer stand-alone package.
    You can do this on a local machine or a shared network drive. For more information, see Launching-MainView-Explorer.
  2. For local configurations, go to the mveimage folder and double-click the runviewer.bat file.
    A command prompt opens and initializes the application. The MainView Explorer Viewer window appears.

Tip

In the future, you can continue to launch MainView Explorer Viewer from the BAT file in the mveimage folder or you can create a desktop shortcut to the file instead.


Warning

Important

If your organization configured MainView Explorer Viewer on a shared network drive, contact your system administrator for the best way to launch the application.

To launch MainView Explorer Viewer using Java Web Start

  1. Open any browser and enter the URL: http://host:port/mve.
    • For host, use the IP address or name of the system on which the BMC AMI Ops host server is running.
    • For port, use the value specified for the PORT parameter in the host server startup procedure. For more information, see Creating-the-Host-Server-startup-procedure.
  2. Press Enter.
    A web page appears with two launch buttons: one for MainView Explorer and one for MainView Explorer Viewer.
  3. Click the button for MainView Explorer Viewer.
    The file, mveview.jnlp is downloaded to your computer. 
  4. Click Open, or double-click the file in the Downloads folder to launch MainView Explorer Viewer.
Warning

Important

After you launch MainView Explorer Viewer using Java Web Start, a shortcut appears on your desktop that you can use to launch MainView Explorer Viewer in the future.

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
