Deprecated and dropped features and components

TrueSight Operations Management version 11.3.03 includes changes to the level of support for the following features and components.

Note

Dropped features and components in 11.3.03

Support for the following features or components was dropped in this or an earlier release of TrueSight Operations Management. 

TEA Agent ConfigurationMigrationTool and ReplaceCertificateTool

From version 11.3.03, BMC no longer ships the ConfigurationMigrationTool and ReplaceCertificateTool tools with the TEA Agent. However, the procedures in the document work if you are using versions 11.3.02 and earlier.

TrueSight Intelligence and TrueSight Pulse

From version 11.3.03, the TrueSight Intelligence and TrueSight Pulse products are no longer supported. For more information, contact BMC Customer Support.

Discontinued support for adapters

Effective Dec 20, 2019, the following adapters are no longer supported by BMC. However, the adapters are available in the product.

  • Adapter for HP OM
  • Adapter for IBM Tivoli Monitoring
  • Adapter for BMC TM ART

IT Data Analytics Standalone Agent or Standalone Collection Agent

The latest version released for a Standalone Agent is 11.3.01. Starting from version 11.3.02, no more versions will be released for the Standalone Agent. However, you can make a note of the following information:

  • You can continue to use Standalone Agent version 11.3.01 with IT Data Analytics version 11.3.02.
  • If you have created Data Collectors using a Standalone Agent in version 11.3.01, the data collection will continue to work with IT Data Analytics version 11.3.02.
  • You can also edit the Data Collectors to use PATROL Agent instead of a Standalone Agent in IT Data Analytics version 11.3.02.

Any references to the Standalone Agent or Standalone Collection Agent in this documentation applies only to the 11.3.01 version of IT Data Analytics.

Notification channel Syslog protocols

Starting from version 11.3.02, the following Syslog protocols are no longer available for selection from the Managing App Visibility notification channel page:

  • UNIX Syslog
  • Unix Socket

PDF reports from Infrastructure Management operator console

  • Starting from version 11.3.02, you will see the following changes for PDF options in the Infrastructure Management operator console:
    • PDF icon has been removed from the Custom graphs, out-of-the-box reports, and SLO.
    • PDF option has been removed from the Email options in the out-of-the-box reports.
  • If you have configured the Email options for a PDF report before upgrading to version 11.3.02, the configuration is retained and you can send a PDF report even after the upgrade. However, these PDF reports do not display or contain any graph.

64-bit cell support for Solaris

In TrueSight infrastructure Management 11.3.02, support for the 64-bit CELL on Solaris has been deprecated.

Preinstall check utility

In TrueSight Operations Management 11.3.01, the Preinstall check utility is no longer supported. Now, when you install the TrueSight Presentation Server or TrueSight Infrastructure Management, the installer validates all system requirements and continues with the installation.

Application Client Breakdown dashlet

In TrueSight App Visibility Manager 11.3.01, the Application Client Breakdown dashlet support has been discontinued and will no longer be available with the product.

The End User Experience Metrics dashlet allows you to perform the same functions provided by the Application Client Breakdown dashlet.

32-bit cell support for Solaris and AIX

In TrueSight infrastructure Management 11.0, support for the 32-bit CELL on Solaris and AIX has been dropped and is no longer being shipped with the product.

mswitchbit command

In TrueSight infrastructure Management 11.0, the mswitchbit command has been dropped and is no longer being shipped with the product.

BMC Impact Database Gateway (DBGW)

In TrueSight infrastructure Management 11.0, support for the BMC Impact Database Gateway has been dropped and is no longer shipped with the product.  Event Reporting capability is available through TrueSight Operations Management Reporting.

Windows Event Log Adapter (MCWELA)

In TrueSight infrastructure Management 11.0,  support for the Windows Event Log Adapter has been dropped and is no longer shipped with the product.  Event logs can be collected with the PATROL Agent or TrueSight IT Data Analytics.

KB Migration utility

In TrueSight infrastructure Management 11.0, support for the GUI-base Knowledge Base Migration utility has been dropped and is no longer shipped with the product.  The command line interface (mmigrate) is available to migrate cells.

Admin cell (Status tab view of BEM environment)

On a fresh installation of TrueSight Infrastructure Management, the admin cell process and service is no longer created.  On an upgrade installation of TrueSight Infrastructure Management, a backup of the admin cell KB is created before the upgrade. For more  information, see Creating an Infrastructure Management admin cell. The pw CLI no longer starts, stops, or checks the status of the admin cell.

Infrastructure Management status tab – Administrator console

In TrueSight infrastructure Management 11.0, the Infrastructure Management tab in the administrator console has been dropped and is not included with the installation program.

The -i option for cell CLI commands

In TrueSight infrastructure Management 11.0, the -i option for cell CLI commands is dropped and is not included with the installation program.

The -i option returns an error when used. Update all references to the -i option.

Triage and Remediation Workflows

In TrueSight infrastructure Manager 11.0, the Triage and Remediation Workflows and the Atrium Orchestrator platform has been dropped and is no longer shipped with the product. However, support for the following workflows is available in TrueSight infrastructure Manager 11.0.0.02 and later versions.

Group Tree Viewer

In TrueSight infrastructure Management 11.0, the Group Tree Viewer (Hyperbolic Tree) has been dropped and is no longer shipped with the product.  Tree views can be created via that application and/or service models.

BMC Reporting Foundation

You can no longer install or upgrade the SAP Business Objects by using the TrueSight Operations Management Report Engine installer. If you want to install or upgrade SAP Business Objects, you must procure a SAP Business Objects licence and then install it. With TrueSight Operations Management Reporting, you can do one of the following:

  • Install TrueSight Smart Reporting and perform a fresh installation of Report Engine 11.3.01. See the TrueSight Smart Reporting documentation for more information.

  • Install TrueSight Smart Reporting and upgrade Report Engine to version 11.3.01.

Important

BMC has announced end-of-life for BMC Reporting Foundation.

BMC Impact Integration for HP-OpenView Network Node Manager

In TrueSight infrastructure Manager 11.0, support for this integration is deprecated and will not be included in the next release of the product.

BMC Adapter for HP-OpenView

In TrueSight infrastructure Manager 11.0, support for this adapter is deprecated and will not be included in the next release of the product.

SLO console

Beginning in TrueSight infrastructure Manager 11.0, the availability of this console is only available to customers upgrading from version 10.7 or earlier.

Integration with BMC Service Level Management

Beginning in TrueSight infrastructure Manager 11.0, this integration is only available to customers upgrading from version 10.7 or earlier.

Topics that describe the integration with BMC Service Level Management were removed from the integration documentation. This integration is supported for customers upgrading from earlier versions of TrueSight Infrastructure Management. Business Objects

Beginning in TrueSight infrastructure Manager 11.0, SAP Business Objects is only available to customers upgrading from version 10.7 or earlier.
