AMIGO checklist for TrueSight Operations Management



The Assisted MIGration Offering (AMIGO) checklist provides the steps needed to install/upgrade TrueSight Presentation Server, Remedy Single Sign On, TrueSight Infrastructure Management, and the Integration Service Node.

The checklist is comprised of material gathered from multiple resources, such as documentation, knowledge articles, webinars, and feedback from other customers.  The result is a definitive list of steps needed to efficiently and successfully install/upgrade TrueSight.

Should I upgrade or migrate?


Remedy Single Sign On
Upgrade the existing environment ( Do-able, but not recommended)
  • There is no TrueSight installer for Remedy SSO available for version 11.3.x
  • If you have installed and configured TrueSight installer for Remedy SSO (consolidated installer) version 11.0 or 11.3.01, you can upgrade using the following steps:
    • Upgrade Tomcat, JDK and the Database in the existing installation to the latest RSSO supported versions BMC SOLUTION AND PRODUCT AVAILABILITY AND COMPATIBILITY UTILITY (SPAC)
    • Download the Remedy Single Sign On 20.02 or the latest version from the EPD site.
    • To avoid a possible error during the upgrade, do the following before performing the upgrade:
      • Log in to your existing Remedy SSO server and navigate to the <RemedySSO_INSTALL_DIR>/rsso/conf directory.
      • Open the rssoproperties.conf file.
      • Set the db.prepackage.type property to false.
      • Perform the Remedy SSO upgrade to version 20.02 or later.
      • After a successful upgrade, reset the db.prepackage.type property to true
Migrate to a new environment (Recommended)
  • Alternatively, you can directly install any of the supported versions of the Remedy SSO server using the Remedy SSO installer. For installing Remedy SSO using the Remedy installer, see Installing.
TrueSight Operations Management
Upgrading the existing environment
TSPS 10.7.00.003 and/or 11.x to 11.3.03

Previous versions of TrueSight 10.x must be upgraded to at least 10.7 FP 3 before upgrading to 11.3.01 and applying Service Pack 3

  • Take a VM snapshot of the TSPS system or perform manual backups of the following files & directories just in case the upgrade has problems.
    • cp /opt/bmc/ProductRegistry.xml /some/place/else/TrueSightPServer_<old.version>/ProductRegistry.xml
    • cp /opt/bmc/TrueSightPServer/TrueSightPServerInstalledConfiguration.xml /some/place/else/TrueSightPServer_<old.version>/TrueSightPServerInstalledConfiguration.xm

Perform the upgrade:

TSIM 10.7.00.003 and/or 11.x to 11.3.03

Previous versions of TrueSight 10.x must be upgraded to at least 10.7 FP 3 before upgrading to 11.3.01

Integration Server

  • Take a VM snapshot of the TSIS system or perform manual backups of the following files & directories just in case the upgrade has problems.
    • cp /opt/bmc/ProductRegistry.xml /some/place/else/TrueSight_<old.version>/ProductRegistry.xml
    • cp /opt/bmc/TSIMAgent/BPPMServerInstalledConfiguration.xml /some/place/else/TSIMAgent_<old.version>/BPPMServerInstalledConfiguration.xml
  • Migrate any cell customization: Migrating the configuration of Infrastructure Management cells

Perform the Upgrade:

In the Starter Phase, an AMIGO Starter case is opened, If you have questions which aren't covered in the checklist, please open a case with BMC Customer Support with"AMIGO Starter" in the Subject line and provide:

  • Your questions
  • Essential background information, such as your current version, intended version, OS, etc.
  • The AMIGO Starter case will be closed, and the next step will be for you to prepare a documented upgrade plan.

BMC Customer Support will also review your plan when you've finished it.  For this, open a new case with BMC Customer Support with "AMIGO Review" in the Subject line and provide:

  • Your plan
  • The expected date & time of the installation/upgrade
