Performing the App Visibility server uninstallation

Perform the following procedure to uninstall one or more App Visibility server components by using the uninstall wizard.

Before you begin

  • (Portal or collector) If you want to retain data, back up the database.

    Warning

    All data stored for the component you are uninstalling is deleted. To retain the data, you must back up the database before continuing with the uninstallation process.

  • (Portal or collector) In a high-availability environment, uninstall the standby node.

    If you want to uninstall only an active node, first stop the component service and wait up to five minutes to confirm failover before uninstalling the component. 

    Warning

    If you are uninstalling only the active node (for example, because you want to replace that node with another computer), you must stop the component service on the active node before running the uninstallation utility, otherwise you might lose data.

    If you are uninstalling both nodes and you have backed up your data, then you do not need to stop the service before performing the uninstallation process.

    • (Windows) Use the Windows services manager (services.msc) to stop the required component:
      • BMC App Visibility Collector
      • BMC App Visibility Portal
    • (Linux) Run the required command:
      • service adop_collector stop
      • service adop_portal stop

To uninstall the App Visibility server components

  1. Log on with administrator privileges to the computer on which App Visibility is installed.
  2. Launch the uninstallation wizard:

    • Windows 
      Use one of the following procedures:
      To uninstall from the uninstallation utility

      1. Navigate to the installationDirectory\UninstallBMCADOPServer directory.
      2. Right-click uninstall.exe and select Run as administrator.

       
      To uninstall from the Control Panel

      1. From the Control Panel, select Programs and Features (Windows 2008) or Uninstall a program (Windows 2012).
      2. Right-click BMC App Visibility Server 10.x  and click Uninstall.
    • Linux
      1. Ensure that you have set the DISPLAY environment variable.
      2. In a command line, navigate to the folder in which App Visibility is installed.
        For example, /opt/bmc/App_Visibility/UninstallBMCADOPServer
      3. Run the following command
        ./uninstall.bin
  3. On the Welcome screen, click Next.
  4. On the Features screen, select the components you want to uninstall and then click Next.
  5. Confirm that you are aware that data will be deleted from the database by clicking Next.
  6. In the Uninstallation Preview screen, review the features selected, and click Uninstall to proceed.
  7. In the Uninstallation Summary screen, click Done to complete the uninstallation process.
    If you want to verify the uninstallation process before exiting the uninstallation wizard, click View Log to view the adopserver_uninstall_log.txt file.
    You can also view the uninstallation log files in the %temp% (Windows) directory or in the /tmp (Linux) directory.
  8. Select to restart your computer now or later and click Done.
