New TrueSight Smart Reporting reports

Important: TrueSight Smart Reporting as a new BMC offering

TrueSight Smart Reporting is a new offering from BMC that integrates with TrueSight Operations Management Reporting and serves as a platform for reports. To use TrueSight Smart Reporting, you must upgrade TrueSight Operations Management Reporting to version 11.3.01 and purchase the appropriate license entitlements.

You can use TrueSight Smart Reporting to generate reports with a simple drag-and-drop action. TrueSight Smart Reporting uses TrueSight Operations Management Reporting as its platform to administer, compile, and publish reports, and uses Oracle or SQL Server as the application database. The Report Engine is a Java application that collects event, impact, and performance data from TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server. , and compiles the data. The Report Engine periodically summarizes performance data, and calculates impact metrics using the events data.

TrueSight Smart Reporting integrates TrueSight Operations Management with Yellowfin, a third-party business intelligence and reporting tool. For information about Yellowfin, see the Yellowfin documentation (http://wiki.yellowfin.bi/display/USER74/Home).

Discontinued features

Discontinued support for installing SAP Business Objects by using the Report Engine installer

You can no longer install or upgrade the SAP Business Objects by using the TrueSight Operations Management Report Engine installer. If you want to install or upgrade SAP Business Objects, you must procure a SAP Business Objects licence and then install it. With TrueSight Operations Management Reporting, you can do one of the following:

Install TrueSight Smart Reporting and perform a fresh installation of Report Engine 11.3.01. See the TrueSight Smart Reporting documentation for more information.
Install TrueSight Smart Reporting and upgrade Report Engine to version 11.3.01.

Important

BMC has announced end-of-life for BMC Reporting Foundation.

Discontinued support for CLI command

The summary_period CLI command is no longer supported for the TrueSight Operations Management Report Engine.
