Creating custom reports

Perform the following procedure to create custom reports:

1. From the Start menu, navigate to All Programs > SAP BusinessObjects Intelligence > SAP BusinessObjects BI platform 4 > SAP BusinessObjects BI platform Java BI Launch Pad.
2. Enter your log in details and click Log On.
3. From the Applications menu, select Web Intelligence.
4. Click New and select Universe as data source. A list of all universes is displayed.

5. Select BPPM DataMart.unx Universe.

   A window for New Web Intelligence Document appears.

6. Drag and drop appropriate objects from the objects lists on the left to the Result Objects pane. A typical performance report may include the following objects:
   1. BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server Name, Device Name, Monitor Type, Attribute Name, Instance Name, Date, and the following Measures objects Average Value, Minimum Value, and Maximum Value.
   2. You can also add pre-defined filters to the Query Filters pane from the Performance Custom Dimensions folder. For example, add the Enter/Select Device - Monitor - Instance filter.
      Your new Web Intelligent Document looks like this:
7. Click Run Query, by default the system creates a tabular format of the objects you have selected.
8. You can add graph report by:
   1. Right-click the Report tab and select Add Report.
   2. Click the Report Element tab and select the chart you want. For example, Report Element > Charts > Line.
   3. Click the Available Objects tab from left and drag your report objects on to the chart. For example, place the Daily object on the X axis; place the Average Value on the Y axis; and place Device Name on the Z axis.
   4. Right-click on the chart and select Format Chart > Global > Area Display > Legend. Select Visible check box to add a legend to your chart.
9. In case of multiple attributes, a section is required on the attribute name. To create a section, select Report Element> Section > Insert Section and drop it above the graph in the report. The Available objects window displays. Select the Attribute Name object and click OK.
10. Click Data Access > Refresh and select values for Device, Monitor, and Instance in the prompts that appear.
11. Click Run Query. The chart is now populated with values.
12. Click on the Analysis tab and select the Drill icon on the toolbar to enable drilling on the report.

Creating cross functional ad hoc reports

You can create cross functional ad hoc reports by combining Event, Impact, and Performance data based on business requirements, by using the available universe objects. These join reports use the event and performance data generated by same BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server. The events generated by other BMC sources (for example, Remote Cell) can not be used in the event and performance join reports. 

To create these join reports:

1. Use separate queries for Event and Performance data.
2. Join both queries using the merge dimension. Both queries must include the BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server ID, Device ID, Monitor Type ID, Attribute ID, and Monitor Instance ID objects.

Objects under the following classes are common for event and performance data:

• Component 
• Device
• organization
• monitor Type
• Monitor Instance
• Attribute

Scheduling Report with dynamic date range

To schedule recurring report, change the date range prompts to use calculated dates or date variables.

Perform the following steps to add filter on the date range in the recurring schedule report: 

1. Open a report in the modify mode.
2. Navigate to Data Access and select Edit.
3. Navigate to the Query filters pane.
4. Remove existing filter on the date range if you have.
5. Add date field to the Query filters pane.
6. Select the condition Between. 
7. Select Object from this query instead of date and choose appropriate objects from the Reporting Object folder.
