Configuring using PATROL Console


This topic provides information about adding, modifying, and removing a Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager to the environment for monitoring.

After you install BMC PATROL for Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization, you must add a Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager to the environment for monitoring. 

To add a Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager

  1. From the PATROL Console, access the RHEV Manager application menu.
  2. From the RHEV Manager application menu, select Manage List of RHEV Managers.
    The Manage-List-of-RHEV-Managers-dialog-box is displayed.
  3. Select the Add RHEV Manager option and click OK.
    The Add-RHEV-Manager-dialog-box is displayed.
  4. In the Hostname field, enter the name of the Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager.
  5. In the Username field, enter the name of the user required to access the Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager.
  6. In the Password field, enter the password corresponding to the user name.
  7. In the Domain field, enter the domain for the Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager.
  8. In the Certificate Path field, type the path for the Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager certificate for server validation.

    Note

    The path should be an absolute path to the location where the certificate resides on the PATROL Agent. For example, /home/patrol/ca.crt.

  9. In the Port field, enter the port number for the Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager.

    Note

    By default, Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager runs on port number 443. Ensure that firewall is set properly and port 443 is free for use.

  10. Click Add.
    A new Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager is added for monitoring.

To modify a Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager

  1. From the PATROL Console, access the RHEV Manager application menu.
  2. From the RHEV Manager application menu, select Manage List of RHEV Managers.
    The Manage-List-of-RHEV-Managers-dialog-box is displayed.
  3. Select an existing Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager and select the Modify RHEV Manager option.
    The Modify-RHEV-Manager-dialog-box is displayed.
  4. Edit the fields as required.

    Note

    You must enter the password again.

  5. Click OK.
    The configuration of the selected host will be modified.

To remove a Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager

  1. From the PATROL Console, access the RHEV Manager application menu.
  2. From the RHEV Manager application menu, select Manage List of RHEV Managers.
    The Manage-List-of-RHEV-Managers-dialog-box is displayed.
  3. Select a Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager from the list.
  4. Select Delete RHEV Manager and click OK.
  5. Click Yes to confirm the deletion.

The selected host instance will be deleted from the console and host configuration information will be deleted.
