If a Problem Occurs
BMC Software offers several PATROL consoles from which you can view a PATROL Knowledge Module (KM). Because of the different environments in which these consoles run, each one uses a different method to display and access information in the KM. This appendix provides instructions for accessing the KM menu commands, InfoBoxes, and online Help on each of the PATROL consoles. See the online Help for specific PATROL for Linux components to view more detailed information about navigation in the PATROL Consoles.
Configuring recovery actions for file systems
This task describes how to set up the Filesystem Cleanup recovery action, which removes files once the percentage of the file system currently in use, measured by FSCapacity parameter, exceeds the threshold established in either Alarm1 or Alarm2. This recovery action attempts to remove core dump files, and if the file system is /tmp or /tmp is mounted off this file system, attempts to remove from /tmp files that are 30 days old or older.
Before you begin
- You must be root to run this command.
- For a given NUK_FileSystem instance, the Capacity parameter must be active.
- This recovery action applies to all filesystems except NFS, CDROM and proc.
To set up automatic file system cleanup
- Access the Computer application menu.
Select Configure Recovery Actions.
PATROL displays the Register Recovery Actions dialog box, which lists all available recovery actions.

Before You Begin
You must have set up a recovery action.
To run recovery actions in attend mode
When the monitored resource meets or exceeds the criteria that you established, PATROL displays the Run Recovery Action dialog box
Select an option and click Accept to run the recovery action:
- Do not ask me again—switches the recovery action to unattended mode, which allows the recovery action to run without any user interaction
- Disable—prevents the recovery action from attempting to run and from producing this dialog box
If you click Cancel, PATROL does not run the recovery action or save any of the options that you selected.
